Bernese News 19th April 2016

Best in Show winner Meadowpark High Class with Carole Hartley-Mair

At Working & Pastoral Breeds of Wales Championship show held on Saturday it was very
chilly outside but a very bright light was set to shine down on Bernese as the day progressed.
All-rounder judge Britt-Marie Young, well known for her very successful Farouche Briards had
drawn 57 entries with 12 absentees.

At barely 15 months old, the Dog CC, his second, plus Best of Breed was awarded to Bernice
Mair, Carole Hartley-Mair and Gary Dybdall's homebred Meadowpark High Class who is a son
of Ch Meadowpark Vertigo JW x Meadowpark Northern Blend.

The Reserve CC went to his 2 1/2 year old sire Vertigo (Ch Jaybiem Utwo JW ShCM x
Meadowpark Sugar's Diva) and the Bitch CC, her first I believe was won by Meadowpark One
Lover, a 3 year old sired by Ch Tangyachates Beachcomber x Meadowpark One Love.

Taking the Reserve Bitch CC was Jean Jones & Lorraine Grayling's Lujento L'Wren Bacall
With Welshbern who is a 2 year old, bred by Lorraine and sired by Ch Lujento Heyhobart With
Welshbern x Lujento Genoa Name.

Julie Baldwin's 7 month old Fortonpark Lily's Delight won Best Puppy.  She is a daughter of
Guiness Record From Christofland To Fortonpark (Imp Cze) x Ch Fortonpark Dutch Delight.

Best Veteran was awarded to Trish Goodyear's Harvestbank Born To Boogie.  Almost 8 1/2
years old and  homebred, she is sired by Ch Camiel Van't Stokerybos x Harvestbank Aurora.
sired by Int Ch Camiel Van't Stokerybos x Harvestbank Aurora.  I believe that "Holly" returned
to the ring after a disc issue caused some concern last year but with Trish's care and enough
time she has made remarkable recovery. Congratulations.

BUT - the success of Bernese at this show didn't end in the breed ring.  Well known all-rounder
Sue Hewart-Chambers was the judge of the Working Group and chose Meadowpark High Class
as her winner, and she must have been mightily impressed by him as she went on to award him
Best in Show.  A great achievement for a Bernese in any circumstances but even more so for
one so young.  Very well done to all concerned.
