Bernese News 23rd August 2017


The Bernese entry for City of Birmingham Championship show 2017 has been announced as
70 exhibits giving 74 entries for all-rounder judge Ben Reynolds-Frost. 

For comparison the entry at the 2016 show was 58 exhibits giving 57 entries with 23 absentees
for all-rounder Irene McManus.

The schedule for the BMD Club of Great Britain Championship show arrived last Friday and
postal entries close this Friday, 25th August 2017. Online entries close on 1st September at
www.fossedata.co.uk
The show takes place on Saturday 23rd September at The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh
Park, near Kenilworth, Warwicks, CV8 2LZ.
The judges are;  Dogs - Carole Hartley-Mair (Meadowpark) and Bitches - Heather Head

Schedules are now available for the Southern BMD Club Open show to be held on 1st October
2017 at The Mole Barn, Leatherhead. 
Postal entries close on 11th September, online entries close on 17th September and schedules can
be downloaded from www.fossedata.com   The judge is all-rounder Darren Clarke (Peluche).

The Northern BMD Club are holding a "Berner Beach Walk" on Sunday 8th October 2017 at
Druridge Bay, Northumberland NE61 5BX which is 3 miles south of Amble off the A1068.  
Meet in the coach park at 11am, parking is free.  Take a picnic for after the walk.

George Wilson, Chairman of the BMD Club of Scotland emailed;

"The officers and committee of the BMD Club of Scotland would like to thank all the friends,
fexhibitors and supporters of our club who came and joined us for our club's 30th anniversary
celebrations - what a fantastic weekend it was!  Many people had travelled hundreds of miles
to attend, some came and stayed for a several days and some visited for a day or take part or
spectate but everyone played a part in making this year's Kelso weekend so special and memorable.
Thank you to all those who have sent messages and called to say how much you enjoyed yourselves
and to thank the club for the free embroidered rucksack and other specials we had on offer - all the
committee and helpers had a great time too and appreciate your kind comments!
Some of the reports and photos are now on our website with a few more to be added when we
receive them. Here's to the next 30 years!
Our next event is our Christmas Party on 10th December at Cochrane Hall, Alva FK12 5LJ.
Entry is free to all, as are the games and fun classes with a present for all children and dogs so
come along and have some festive fun.

At the Welsh Kennel Club Championship show
2017 all-rounder judge Robin Newhouse had an
entry of 49 with 10 absentees across 16 classes. 

The Dog CC, his third, was awarded to Karen Bird & Shandy Bridges' Kernow Something with the
Reserve CC going to the Puppy Dog winner, Rebecca King & Jackie Green's 11month old Joseph
Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella.    Bred by Marieke De Wold and imported from the Netherlands,
he is a son of Int Ch Gorgeous McGregor Vom Rummelsbach x Emarli Vom Durrbachler Wald.  

In bitches it was a second CC for Julie and Dafyd Morgan's Welshbern Sweet Lady At Judabern.
Nearing 5 years old and bred by Jean Jones, she is a daughter of Ch Monalou Dutch Courage x
Ch Welshbern Taran.

The Reserve Bitch ticket went to the Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy winner, Karen Bird & Heather 
Head's 11 month old Cullumbern Roman Toga With Millermead who was bred by Karen and sired
by Ch Kernow Rock Star x Kernow Let It Be At Cullumbern JW who is a litter sister to the Best of
Breed winner.

Jayne and Trevor Richards' Ch Tickbern Naughty But Nice Von Richenbern was declared Best
Veteran. Bred by Penny Cooke & Jim Stevens, she is 7 1/2 years old and sired by Monalou Touch
Of Dutch To Glenbrienz x Tickbern Knick Knack.  Congratulations. 


And so we have the first new Champion of 2017, subject to Kennel Club confirmation.
