LKA CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 15th December 2020

Minor Puppy Dog (3 entries, 2 absentees)

1st: O'Callaghan's Bernsego Muffin (Imp Rus). Best Puppy. Very raw baby of 7 months who moved out well . Confident temperament. Exuberant mover, keeping his topline. Attractive head with kind expression. Very well boned. Showing promise.

Puppy Dog No entries

Junior Dog (6)
1st Bird's Cullumbern Milano.
The obvious winner of this class, Stood out for breed type and quality. Excellent bone, good depth of chest, compact body tight at the elbows. Well turned stifles. Very kind yet cheeky expression. Another promising youngster
2nd King, Green & Dedman's Parwizz Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld). Longer cast than 1st leading to a reachy stride. Well boned. Deep bodied. Another with kind expression. 1st excelled in angulation over 2nd.
3rd Flippance's Tickbern What About Walter At Nenebern

Post Graduate Dog (6, 1)
1st Bridges' Kernow Troublue.
Close decision between 1st and 2nd but 1st excelled in front over 2nd. Strong quarters enabled powerful movement. Would benefit from thinning of coat around the neck which would enable his neck to appear the correct length and not too stuffy. Gorgeous expression. Excellent bone.
2nd Cotton's Kernow Billy No Mates At Jukesbern. Another nice type with expression full of character. Pleasing outline with correct topline and croup but hope he develops more second thigh with maturity.
3rd Wakeland's Collansues Secret Potion At Bramikdel

Limit Dog (10, 2)
1st Griffiths, Orme & Miles' Jaybiem With N'without Y'zeus JW.
Caught my eye as he circled the ring with effortless power. A lovely male to go over. Just the type and substance we should be aiming for. Calm temperament yet alert and showing himself to advantage, Moved out with drive, enabled by his well-let-down hocks (a bit of a rarity in the breed.) Mature in body as befits a dog of his age. Kind expression with dark eye. A worthy ticket winner today. Dog CC.
2nd Gurney's Monalou Just Call Me Oleg. . Close up to 1st but slightly longer cast and not quite as balanced height to length as 1st. Nevertheless much to commend this masculine boy who showed himself well. Another with attractive, masculine expression. Good depth of bone. Confident temperament. Reserve CC.
3rd King & Green's Joseph Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella JW (Imp Nld)

Open Dog (3)
1st Bridges' Ch Kernow Troubadour JW.
A good size, masculine dog, deep through the heart. Strong bone and moved out well to beat 2nd.
2nd Rothery's Ch Glamrock Graffiti Artist ShCM. Well proportioned male who holds his topline on the move. Confident temperament. Not so clean in front movement as 1st.
3rd Giffney's Jun Ch Ir Ch Sennen Cruise Control CJW :

Veteran Dog (1, 1)

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Dog (3, 1)
1st Otero Scutt & Otero Rodrigueez's Homer De Llobu Astur (Imp Esp).
More compact in all proportions. Good bone and better turn of stifle than 2nd. A heavy coated boy.
2nd Akehurst's Jesterbrock Alpine Storm. This boy could carry a bit more body to advantage. A happy boy with good temperament.

Disappointingly two of the bitches did not have the fearless, self-assured temperament called for in the standard. Many parts of the breed standard are open to personal interpretation but, in my opinion, temperament is the most vital attribute to breed for: a dog with a nervous/ anxious temperament does not conform to the breed standard and will not be a happy or reliable dog in daily life.
All placed bitches had the happy confident temperament necessary for pets or breeding stock. This is a necessity for me when judging.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2)
1st Gurney's Monalou Whispering Angel.
What a delightful little girl. My notes say “Dinky” and dinky she was. Excellent bone and super angulation fore and aft . Completely feminine and so pretty but she has a lot of growing on to do. I hope that she does as she is adorable.
2nd Meakin's Bernsego Lets Music Sound (Imp Rus). Pretty, happy little girl with good dark tan and very attentive to her handler.

Puppy Bitch (3)
1st Cooke & Stevens' Penelope Du Roi Des Lacs Avec Tickbern (Imp Fra).
Sweet, feminine baby, occasionally a tad overwhelmed with the environment because of her inexperience but certainly not nervous. Much to like about her and she is developing correctly for her age.
2nd Gurney's Monalou Whispering Angel
3rd Meakin's Bernsego Lets Music Sound (Imp Rus)

Junior Bitch (5, 1)
1st King & Green's Olivia Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld).
Close decision between 1st and 2nd as similar in many ways. Only movement set them apart and the better angulation of the 1st.
2nd Wright & Kirk's Objet D'art Du Hameau De Baika Avec Roesilbern JW (Imp Fra)
3rd Costello's Malindibeach Fab Evie Bear

Post Graduate Bitch (10, 4)
1st Gurney's Monalou Cara Mia.
Well moving, compact type of bitch. Deep through the heart, level topline leading to rounded croup with correctly set tail.
2nd Flanagan's Collansues Lexis Pot Of Gold. Taller, bigger built bitch who was rather inclined to race around the ring. Pretty girl with a nice expression.
3rd: Small's Malindibeach Faberge Fancy

Limit Bitch (7, 3)
1st Spencer's Padiky Starr Studded Skye JW.
3 year old with a perfect outline for a taller bitch. Balanced angulation in shoulder and stifle. Lengthy stride as befits a taller bitch so covered the ground well. Attractive, feminine expression though her head gave the appearance of being trimmed. Overall, a touch of quality. Reserve CC.
2nd Clough's Bernarks Now Or Never. Pretty bitch. Lots to like but she does not always stand herself to full advantage.
3rd Watson's Stepdashar Winters Wish

Open Bitch (5, 2)
1st Akehurst & Bridges' Ch Kernow All My Loving.
Strong in bone with substance to match. Compact in loin. Moved well to win the class.
2nd Oakaby's Tickbern Teasle At Iscabern. Similar to 1st in many ways. Deep through the heart. Today, not moving quite as positively as 1st

Veteran Bitch (2)
1st, CC and Best of Breed Atherton's Ch Athersbern Peronelle Blush.
Alert. Attentive. Adorable. What an absolutely outstanding bitch who today filled my eye as soon as she went round the ring. Superbly handled with utter empathy and calmness, this lady asked to be given the top award today. She was so delightful, standing four square, wagging her tail and so very relaxed. Completely alert to her handler and utterly enjoying herself. She could not be denied the top spot today. Best Veteran.
2nd Flanagan's Collansues Rosebud. Another all feminine girl, very pretty and moving round well though slightly less fluid in movement than 1st. Carrying a massive coat. Lovely to see her doing so well at over 8 years.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Bitch (4)
1st Akehurst & Bridges' Ch Kernow All My Loving.
Confident, strong type. Moved with drive and enthusiasm to win this class.
2nd Small's Malindibeach Faberge Fancy. Pretty, darkly marked bitch who did not move with the reach of 1st
3rd Costello's Malindibeach Fab Evie Bear.
Judge - Sandra Gatward (Timberlog)
