Bernese News 16th December 2015

Thank you to Karen Bird for sending me a marked catalogue (much appreciated!) for the
BMD Club of Great Britain Open show.  The judge was breed specialist Ruth Summerley
(Mytezika) who had attracted 65 exhibits giving 75 entries with 29 absentees and 1 withdrawn
across 21 classes.  In addition there were also 15 entries with 10 absentees across four
Special Members Awards classes judged by Faye Stannard (Kohbern) during the lunch break.

Best Dog and Best in Show was awarded to June Miles' almost 20 month old Orlando Bloom
At Jaybiem who was bred by Caroline Rush and sired by June's own Ch Jaybiem Innu Endo
JW ShCM x Lujento Black Betty.  His litter sister Save Dallas Kiss For Jaybiem also owned
by June won Reserve Best Bitch, and making it a triple celebration June's homebred, 7 year
old Ch Jaybiem Utwo JW ShCM (Jaybiem Cutting H'Edge For Helvetius x Ch Jaybiem Invu)
took Best Veteran.

Reserve Best Dog went to Alison Hyland's homebred Charmsway Adventurer who is a son of
Ch Tangyachates Beachcomber x Dolpena Lucky Lady.  He is  rising 3 years old.

Joanne and Trevor Sutton's homebred Ch Bernsteph Dior Remember Me JW ShCM was
declared Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Show.   Almost three years old she is by Tickbern
Over The Moon x Sennensson Nina Ricci At Bernsteph.

Tony Granger's Shirdees Harlow Jean Of Shadybower bred by Shirley King and Julie Bramble
was Best Puppy.  Sired by the Best Veteran x Ch Shirdees Chevrolet, she is 11 1/2 months
old.  Congratulations.

At LKA Championship Show all-rounder Frank Wildman
was the judge and attracted
65 entries with 26 absentees.  I gather there were some frustrating traffic delays outside the
venue which resulted in a few Bernese exhibitors missing their classes.

Gary Griffiths and Mandy Orme were delighted to win a third CC plus Best of Breed with their
Jaybiem Yeuben Chozen, jointly owned with June Miles and also the Reserve Bitch CC with
5 year old Jaybiem Voo Doo At Potterspride who is jointly owned with Violet Slade and
bred by June Miles and sired by Ch Jaybiem Utwo JW ShCM x Jaybiem Commen T'ally Vous.

Best Puppy and the Reserve Dog ticket was won by Bernice Mair & Carole Hartley-Mair's 11
month old homebred Meadowpark High Class who is a son of Ch Maedowpark Vertigo JW x
Meadowpark Northern Blend, and Bernice and Carole also took home a 5th Bitch CC for their
3 year old Ch Meadowpark Perfect Blend (Ch Tangyachates Beachcomber x Meadowpark
Royal Blend) who is a litter sister to the dam of the Reserve Dog CC and Best Puppy winner.

Best Veteran was Julie Fairclough's 7 1/2 year old Ch Monalou What's It All About ShCM who
was bred by Michele Gurney and sired by Monalou It's Fletcher x Monalou Dutch Baroness.

Elsewhere at the show Paige Spencer was placed Reserve in a class of 17 in the Junior
Handling 12 -16 years category under judge Miss Victoria Woods (Penbro). Congratulations.

After the show Mandy Orme emailed;
"We are still in shock! After 20 years of being the breed this is our first Champion.  Many thanks
to all the well wishers from around the ringside."

And so we have another Bernese New Champion, subject to KC confirmation
