EDWINSTOWE AND DISTRICT CS OPEN SHOW 19th November 2016
Open (2 entries)
1st Griffiths, Slade & Orme’s Jaybiem Voo Doo At Potterspride JW. Really honest 6 year
old bitch. Sound, balanced and shapely. Lovely rich tan, straight front with nice cat-like feet.
Correct bone for size. Good neck and shoulder. Deep chest and well-ribbed. Looked a touch
bum high today but this was just coat. Firm in the body and loin, well-muscled and in good
condition. A touch square in proportions and would prefer a little more size all round. Correct
croup and tail set. Happy disposition and keen to please her handler. Loved her easy, active
movement which was clean from all angles. Pleased to award her Best of Breed.
2nd Hughes’ Waldershelf Causing Kaos. 2 ½ year old outgoing male who was rather
enjoying his day out. Head developing nicely with kind dark almond shaped eye, strong muzzle
and flat skull. Well-marked with rich tan. Good bite. Enough bone for size. Shoulder placement
OK, straight front and tight cat-like feet. Tall dog who needs time to mature in body. Topline a
little roached today. Very easy moving dog and loved his extension and scope on the move in
profile. He could be tidier coming towards but really drives from his firm parallel hocks.

BMD CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN OPEN SHOW 3rd December 2016
Thank you for the invitation to judge this lovely show and to the committee - especially Karen,
Jackie and Sandra for making it a special day for me. Thanks also to my fabulous steward
Heather for all her help and to the exhibitors for their entries.
On the whole temperaments were sound, dentition good and most managed to move well on
an unusual surface. It was a pleasure to see lots of super youngsters coming through, it bodes
well for the future.
Minor Puppy Dog (6 entries)
What a lovely class!
1st King & Bramble’s Shirdees Leathal Weapon. Super puppy, just over 6 months old. Well
defined stop, classic markings to head. Plenty of bone, level topline and excellent rear angulation.
Movement was so well co-ordinated for one so young but his puppy exuberance still came
through! One to watch for the future. Pleased to award him Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Griffiths, Orme & Miles’ Jaybiem With N’Without Y’Zeus. Another nice e youngster, also
6 months, developing well, just not quite so co-ordinated in body and movement as winner. Has
personality with lovely expression and dark, almond shaped eyes. Sufficient substance for age.
3rd Connelly’s Shirdees Top Gun. Litter brother to my winner, this puppy also shows promise.
Behaving like a typical Bernese youngster, he has a handsome dark face and is bodying up well.
Puppy Dog (1)
1st Stephenson’s Kernow Something Perfect. Just over 6 months old, enjoying his day out!
Up against some strong competition in the previous class he just looks a little raw at the moment.
Nice head and kind expression, a little lacking in bone but he needs time to fill out his frame. Good
Junior Dog (1)
1st Westlakes’ Apriori Uill Smith For Jesterbrock. Large framed dog, 17 months old. Good
head with flat skull and dark eyes. Moved OK but tends to stand with forearms inclined so looks
as if he is toeing out at the front. Needs to tighten up all round but still has time on his side.
Yearling Dog (4)
1st Bridges’ Deerpark Traveling Man V Kernow. Liked this dog a lot. Short coupled and
compact, he has plenty of substance. Good rear angulation helped him to move with drive and
he held his topline well. At 18 months old he has yet to fill out his chest but he is another one to
2nd Barsby & Bonham’s Halesbern Naughty But Nice. Another substantial dog with a good
amount of bone. Flat skull with well defined stop. Angulation at rear a little straight and just ran
wide at front today.
3rd Perks’ Kernow Festival Buzz. Lighter in frame than winners with finer features. Correct
dentition pleasing expression. A little unsettled today, he took time to be comfortable with contact.
Novice Dog (1 entry, 1 absentee)
Graduate Dog (2, 2)
1st Perks’ Kernow Festival Buzz.
2nd Westlakes’ Apriori Uill Smith For Jesterbrock.
Post Graduate Dog (No entries)
Limit Dog (4, 1)
1st Bridges’ Kernow Something. Beautiful dark faced dog, flat skull with dark eyes and well
defined stop. Good fill of chest and depth of brisket. A mature male with profuse coat and full mane,
he could give the impression of a short neck but underneath he has good reach of neck and shoulder
placement. A compact powerhouse, short coupled with good angles at rear, he managed to move
with drive on a difficult surface. Pleased to award Best Dog and Best of Breed.
2nd Hylands’ Charmsway Adventurer. This dog had an excellent rapport with his handler and was
shown to advantage. Flat skull, good stop and lovely kind expression. Good bone and substance
with good angles all round. Just a little long in loin and not quite the depth of chest as the winner.
3rd Rothery’s Glamrock Graffiti Artist. Good head with a kind dark eye. Well boned but overall
movement was a little erratic - he ran close at the rear today.
Open Dog (5, 1)
1st Round’s Ch Collansues Black Magic. Good sized male of substance, he could definitely do
the job he was bred for. Flat skull, dark almond-shaped eye and lovely dark markings. Strong
throughout, plenty of substance with good rear angulation, he needs a bit more room than was
available today to get properly into his stride. Pushed hard for best dog but I was still pleased to
award him Reserve Best Dog.
2nd Gopal’s Ch Collansues Secret Bridges. A taller dog, longer in body than winner but has
plenty of bone for frame. Handsome head with flat skull, strong neck and good shoulder placement.
Would like a little more rear angulation but this dog can move with drive - lovely to see in a larger
3rd Granger’s Orlando Bloom at Jaybiem. A smaller dog all round, he has a beautiful head and
expression. Well groomed, he showed within himself today, his ring presence will improve as he
becomes more confident.
Veteran Dog (1)
1st Barnes’ Bernemcourt Il Colosso. At almost 9 years old, what a pleasure to see him in the
ring! A handsome dark-faced dog who doesn’t look his age, plenty of bone with good angles, he
moved very well on an unusual surface. Well done!
Veteran Bitch (3, 1)
1st Rothery’s Glamrock Future Legend. A pleasure to see this super lady at 8 1/2 years old, her
coat shining and in lovely condition throughout. Well structured with good bone, her topline belies
her age and she moved out so well. Congratulations! Best Veteran.
2nd Sutton’s Ch Bernsteph J’Adore Dior JW ShCM. Wow – still in the show ring at almost 11
years old, what a credit to her owner! Another gentle lady, smaller than the winner but with bright
eyes and classic markings. She just struggled with the surface when moving.
Minor Puppy Bitch (6, 2)
1st King & Bramble’s Shirdees Miss Congeniality. Litter sister to my Best Puppy, another
gorgeous example from this kennel. Bodying up well with super bone for a bitch, all her angles are
good. She has a lovely confidence about her, she is attentive to her owner, she moved out well when
she wasn’t trying to raid her owner’s pocket for food! Another one to watch for the future.
2nd Flippance’s Tickbern Upto Jenna At Nenebern. At almost 9 months this bitch has a lovely
head and expression with a well pronounced stop. Not quite the substance of my winner, her
movement around the ring was good and may be even better if she were a little lighter whilst she
3rd Miles' Jaybiem My My My. Another baby just over 6 months, gentle expression, stop just
developing. A little unsettled today her confidence will come.
Puppy Bitch (6, 2)
1st Miles’ Jaybiem Burli Shassi. Super bitch, well screwed together. Lovely flat skull, dark markings
and eyes giving such a kind expression. Plenty of bone, good topline flowing into rounded croup.
Stands four square even when free standing at the end of a run. Moved solidly, just a little lack lustre
today but still gorgeous overall. Reserve Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Green’s Bernerdalens Quest For Fame At Waldershelf (Imp Swe). Although not so mature
looking as the winner and lighter in bone, it looks as though this bitch is heading in the right direction.
Presents a pleasing picture from the side, showing good rear angulation, she is attentive to her
handler and kept her topline well on the move.
3rd Sutton & Davenport-Willis’ Perfectproposal From Orsina’s Land (Imp Slov). Taller bitch
with good length of leg. Will take time to fill her frame and potential - a little out of coat and behaviour
a little skittish today.
Junior Bitch (2)
1st Miles’ Jaybiem Burli Shassi
2nd Carter’s Tangyachates Easy to Love. Taller than the winner and longer in muzzle, this bitch
gave a good account of herself on the move. She didn’t quite hold her topline today but this should
improve with age.
Yearling Bitch (2)
1st Granger’s Shirdees Harlow Jean Of Shadybower. Tall bitch, well bodied with good depth of
chest, although carrying a little extra weight today. Beautiful eyes and feminine features. Shown in
excellent condition, well groomed with a lovely shiny coat.
2nd Cutler’s Kyleburn Night Usherette. At 18 months old, a smaller bitch with an alert, attentive
expression – just a little shy today. Needs time to body up and will gain in confidence with maturity.
Novice Bitch (4)
1st Wojak’s Bonnie Lass of Melbury. Feminine bitch with pretty head and expression. Lovely dark
eye, alert and interested. She has a good straight topline and she moved well, carrying her tail high
but not over her back.
2nd Baker’s Hypeak’s Coast Of Jima. Another sweet bitch, also moved well and another with a
good topline. Just lacks the bone of the winner.
3rd Sutton & Davenport-Willis’ Perfectproposal From Orsina’s Land (Imp Slov).
Graduate Bitch (4, 3)
1st King’s Ecalpharas Moonshine Over Leapingwell. Smaller bitch but well put together. Good
width of chest, straight topline that she kept on the move and evidence of good muscle tone. Nice
balanced movement, good gait.
2nd Baker’s Hypeak ‘s Coast Of Jima.
3rd Perks Bernfawr Hot Spice. Plenty of substance, good depth of chest and lovely temperament,
this young lady just needs to lose a few pounds!
Post Graduate Bitch (5, 1)
1st Bridges’ Kernow Hello Old Friend. Short coupled bitch with a super amount of bone. Shown
in good condition with a rich dark tan and classic facial markings. Moved evenly with a balanced
gait, driving well from the rear.
2nd Eaves’ Bernemcourt Acquiesce At Kylebern. Smaller bitch, nice straight front, a little short
in leg. Attentive to her owner, she has a lovely calm nature.
3rd Baker’s Hypeak’s Coast Of Jima.
Limit Bitch (6, 1)
1st Miles’ Meadowpark Sweetest Thing At Jaybiem. Loved this bitch, she has a flat skull, rich tan
colouring with a dark almond shaped eye and a soft expression. Beautiful straight front, shoulder
placement correct leading to level topline and into rounded croup. Rear angulation good, enabling
her to move straight and true coming and going. Pushed hard for Best in Show. Best Bitch, Best
Opposite Sex and Reserve Best in Show.
2nd Bailey & Williams' Carabaz Rubinas Sky At Timarbai. Dark faced with a kind expression,
this bitch is very attentive to her handler. Of good substance, she is longer in body than the winner,
topline just dips a little when standing.
3rd Flippance’s Berbienamie Bright Button At Nenebern. Very sweet with a lovely temperament.
Moved well for six and a half years old. Good amount of bone and coat in very good condition.
Open Bitch (4, 1)
1st Goodyear’s Harvestbank Fields Of Gold JW ShCM. I have always admired this bitch and
going over her on the day did not disappoint. Lovely to see a larger example of the breed, she has a
good depth of chest, is well ribbed with straight topline flowing into well rounded croup. Good length
of leg and tight cat like feet. Moved well in limited room. Reserve Best Bitch.
2nd Griffiths, Slade & Orme’s Jaybiem Vou Doo At Potterspride JW. A smaller bitch but of good
qualities. At over 6 years of age she has a bright, dark eye and feminine head. Good shoulder
placement and a straight front. She is a little short in the leg but moved well, out and back.
3rd Green’s Waldershelf All About Edna JW. A substantial bitch with good depth of chest and
plenty of bone. Pleasing head with kind dark eye, good stop and deep muzzle. Out of coat today
but moved OK.
1st Miles'. A mother and daughter pairing, these girls are so well matched with beautiful dark
markings and bodies of substance. A credit to their owner!
