Bailey ~ Pasturegreen Irish Cream7th November 2011 ~ 16th December 2016

Died from severe kidney infection and probable kidney cancer

Philippa Green emailed;

"I was there the moment Bailey took his first breath into this world and tragically his last. We
spent every day together, a team, be it showing or carting. I am heartbroken that my big
powerful boy has just left us and gone over the rainbow bridge to join Merlin, Harvey and Sophie.

"Bailey was the second born in our Amy's Irish litter. He gained his Stud Book number in 2015 and
showed at Crufts each year of his life. Bailey had a successful show career winning many prizes
and after gaining his Stud Book number semi retired from the show ring to start carting. he
competed twice in 2016 at Beginner Carting level gaining a 2nd and 1st which we were very proud
of and as a future carting dog he showed great promise.

"Bailey will be fondly remembered for being larger than life, for scaring people witless by galloping
up to say hello and skidding to a stop right in front of them, sometimes he'd miscalculate and crash.
He wasn't a dog you'd want to meet loose in the dark as he was very protective and would charge
with a roar. He loved to bear-hug insisting that hugs involved his paws on one's shoulders and it
was best to be supported by a wall to enable one to remain upright. Bailey was always so full-on,
the loudest yapper when going out for a walk or when being loaded to go somewhere in the van.
He'd yap with excitement when we arrived at events and loved to be part of things. Bailey was the
first to yap in the mornings setting off the others to compete in a yapping contest whilst I walked
down the stairs, or at events he'd set the others all off yapping first thing in the morning. if he didn't
think we were leaving quickly enough for a walk he'd not only gather his lead in his mouth but some
of the other dogs leads too.

"Bailey was bomb proof and loved children, he loved visiting the children up the school and meeting
and greeting the general public. Bailey was a family dog, sometimes too strong for the girls in fun
classes but he was loyal and loved being part of what we did. He loved family holidays away in the
caravan, galloping about on the beaches and swimming in the sea. He loved long hikes and being
part of whatever we did. He was a greedy eater and we nearly lost him a few years back when he
and Merlin decided to eat some hand towels. Sadly Merlin didn't make it but Bailey pulled through.

"To the great dog that you were, until we meet again Bailey, run free with your half-brother Merlin
our big brave adorable boy.  You stole our hearts and left us far too soon but we’ll never forget you."

LKA CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 10th December 2016

I would like to thank the committee of LKA for inviting me to judge Bernese Mountain Dogs and
to award CC's for the first time in this breed at this well run show.  It was lovely to have two
excellent ladies stewarding for me Mrs J. Keeves and Mrs S.Joyce (Mrs Keeves stewarded for me
at the Southern Club Open Show many years ago.)  I had an excellent sized ring with plenty of
space for dogs to show and move. I would like to thank you all for the superb entry and also for
your sportsmanship throughout the day. Also to all exhibitors for their kindness and help to other
exhibitors on the day. A big thank you to all.
