Bernese News 25th January 2016
Janet Riseborough contacted me to tell me that Pam Aze has been in hospital for a couple
of weeks and is still very poorly. Janet says Pam would love to receive cards or letters from her
friends and fellow Bernese folk and they should be addressed to Pam at Ward 6 of the Queens
Hospital, Belvedere Road, Burton on Trent, Staffs DE13 0RB.
Helen Davenport tells me that the first issue of 'The World of Bernese Mountain Dogs', the
tri-annual which covers the worldwide interest in the breed during the years 2011, 2012 and
2013, has now been published (publisher's website is www.bbpress.nl) and is available to order.
Contributors from around the globe include; Satu Ylä-Mononen (Finland - editor) , Lindy Kunz
(Austria), Lyn Brand (Australia), Kristina R. Nikolova (Bulgaria), Eva Stipkacova (Czechia),
Nicole Hecksher (Denmark), Raili Suits (Estonia), Joelle Bardet (France), Thomas Dielentheis
(Germany), Maddalena Manciani (Italy), Lyn Brand (New Zealand), Stine Bøe (Norway)
Gosia Szewczyk (Poland), Jana Štefancová (Slovakia), Norbert Strahl (Spain), Andrea Maret,
(Switzerland), Karla Zurhaar (Netherlands), Helen Davenport-Willis and Tom Kelly (UK) and
Sandy Dunaway and Kay Stivason (USA).
The publisher.s website describes the book as a "colourful reference" and continues "Facts,
figures and photographs about events of the breed clubs, of champions and other important
dogs. So in principle every champion will be honoured by a full colour photograph and a three
colougeneration pedigree, for free. But also in-depth articles about subjects such as breeding,
type, history, standard, art, law, health as well as extensive interviews with first rank breed
fanciers. All this will be covered in more than 300 pages. 'The World of Bernese Mountain Dogs'
is a luxury book (hardback) with scores of full-colour and black and white photographs, in an
impressive format (A4). Extra attention is paid to the adverts, a source of information on their own."
Helen advises me that he price of "The World of Bernese Mountain Dogs in 2011/12/133 is
59.50 Euros plus shipping (registered mail is 15 Euros), so a total of 74.50 Euros.
Payment can be made by Paypal or bank transfer.

Chris Wood emailed;
"Had a wonderful start to the new year with Layla aka Tamarbern Dusky Maiden winning
Best AVNSC and Working Open and then awarded Group 2 at Newton Abbott Open Show
on Saturday 23rd January. Barbara Attwood the judge said she was impressed with Layla's
beautiful movement and coat. I am so proud of her I wanted to share my good news."
