Bernese News 26th July 2015

I was extremely pleased in the overall quality of this breed that I feel has much improved over
the last few years.  Movement has also much improved although in the higher bitch classes
was perhaps not as good as it could have been. Perhaps this is due to bitches carrying large
which must put a strain on their rears.

BATH CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 24th May 2015  (No CCs on offer for Bernese)

Puppy Dog   (1)
1st Rickman's Tickbern Teddy Bear.
Young immature male, who is of good size. His head
needs time to broaden, grow and mature so it is in proportion to the rest of him, flat skull with
good set on of ears. He stands on good legs and feet, with ample bone although his topline
needs to settle. Could move with more enthusiasm and his rear action needs to settle.

Junior Dog   (1)
1st Miles' Orlando Bloom At Jaybiem JW.
Impressive male who has an instant look of
breed type and quality. Superb head type shape with ideal proportions for his age. Excellent
head to length ratio giving the ideal profile outline on the stack. His movement was spot on
in all directions holding a firm level topline. Give him another 6 months of maturity he can go
all the way to compete at the highest level.  Reserve Best Dog.

Novice Dog   (2)
1st Blenkinsopp's Mountain Crystal Don't Forget Me At Thiesbern (Imp).
Very appealing
head and expression, with good eye shape, skull and muzzle need to broaden to add masculinity.
Strong broad neck of moderate length into powerful well angulated forequarters, well ribbed back,
strong muscular loin into well angled croup and set on of tail. Sound up and back action with
breed specific gait.
2nd Otero Scutt & Otero Rodriguez's Majestic Dream. Strong powerful male, with powerful
head in proportion with his bone and body. Pleasing eye and expression. Slightly less length of
leg and longer in body giving a more rectangular profile shape. Holds good topline, would prefer
better movement in all directions.

Post Graduate Dog   (1)
1st Stelmach & Davis' Chippis Rough Diamond
. Full broad skull and muzzle of correct length
ration, tight lips, eye set shape and placement not ideal.  With good set on of ears and carriage.
Short compact neck. Up on the leg and compact in length. Pleasing profile action but rear
movement could be stronger.

Limit Dog   (1)
1st  Jones' Tickbern No Brakes.
Very strong powerful muzzle and skull giving a very masculine
hard appearance.  Full powerful body with very deep powerful chest giving the appearance he
lacks length of leg. Well angulated forequarters. Longer cast in back with firm level topline. Well
well set on tail. Sound front and good profile action.

Open Dog   (1)
1st Mair, Hartley-Mair & Dybdall's Ch Meadowpark Vertigo JW.
Quality headpiece, very
typical for the breed. He is handled and presented to perfection and is well angulated front and
rear standing on strong bone and tight feet. He is slightly longer in back than I prefer. He is a real
showman and blows you away on the move where he uses himself to full advantage in profile
and faultless on the up and back.  Best Dog and Best of Breed.

Puppy Bitch   (2)
1st Bird's Kernow Let It Be At Cullumbern.
Very impressive baby with an instant look of quality.
Narrow blaze on head but with perfect flat broad skull, level muzzle and high ear set.  Correct
height to length ratio, strong bone, tight compact feet. Needs to come together on the up and back
but has pleasing profile gait. One who should have a big future ahead!  Best Puppy.

Junior Bitch   (5)
1st Mair, Hartley-Mair & Dybdall's Meadowpark Breezing On.
Striking bitch that catches your
eye instantly, her head piece and expression just makes you melt. She is mature for her age and
would not look out of place in the higher classes. She is longer cast in back than I prefer for this
breed she moves away true and honest with an impressive showy profile gait that is not necessarily
typical of what I am looking for in this breed. Presented to perfection.
2nd Miles' Save Dallas Kiss For Jaybiem. A more immature bitch than class winner who will need
a little more time to come together in head and body but has all the main ingredients to achieve
a bright future. she is very balanced and of correct proportions and is very true on the
up and back but needs time to settle in profile.
3rd Weston's Bernfawr In Vogue.

Novice Bitch   (4)
1st Stannard's Kohbern Swans Of Samui.
Very feminine in head, a little rounded in skull and
long in muzzle, narrow all through. Parallel front and rear with moderate angulation. Firm topline,
would prefer stronger feet and bone. She is of the height to length ratio I am looking for.  Excellent
up and back movement very true and honest one of the best in this department, very easy ground
covering profile to compliment.
2nd Wills' Kernow Moon Dust. Superb headpiece, eye shape and ear shape just perfect. Well
angulated front and rear quarters that compliment one another. Good tuck up with parallel topline,
compact in body with good length of leg and deep chest. Presented in excellent coat.  Was very
disappointed with her on the move which prevented her from winning the class.
3rd Westlake's Alpine Joy Page Story At Jesterbrock (Imp).

Post Graduate Bitch   (5, 1)
1st Weston's Bernfawr In Vogue.
Would prefer a more almond shape eye, has level muzzle with
flat broad skull. Strong muscular broad neck of good length. Well ribbed back and well sprung ribs.
Strong powerfull forequarters and rear quarters. Could have stronger pasterns. Did not make the
best of herself on the move.
2nd Wills' Kernow Moon Dust.
3rd Stelmach & Davis' Chippis Shes A Diamond.

Limit Bitch   (6)
1st Stannard's Bernbienaime Bright Gem At Kohbern.
On the stack she ticked all the boxes
with the perfect profile outline and proportions with very little to fault excellent bone feet and
angulation throughout well rounded rump. A well made feminine head piece of good make and
shape and proportions. Superb up and back movement complimented by easy powerful ground
covering profile action, would just like her to have a little more animation and then could of taken
Best of Breed.  Best Bitch.
2nd Slade's Jaybiem Voo Doo At Potterspride JW. Impressive headpiece, parallel muzzle,
well developed furrow and flat skull. Good neck and front, longer cast in body than class winner,
strong bone and compact feet. Impressive showy profile movement. Reserve Best Bitch.
3rd Wills' Kernow Moon Dust.

Open Bitch   (2, 1)

age, plenty of width through front body and rear. Moving unsettled but to be expected from a
