SOUTHERN BMD CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 9th June 2019

Such a very happy show with excellent hospitality and two of the very best stewards possible in Mark Avery and Chrissie Rayment. The hall was light and airy along with a large indoor ring. I was only sad that, albeit a very few, were not as self-confident as they might to be typical of the breed. However and most importantly, the vast majority were charm itself, happy and confident, beautifully presented and obviously adored by their friendly sporting handlers to give me the most enjoyable day.

Veteran Dog  (2 entries)
1st Cooke & Stevens' Tickbern Ridin' High.
A gorgeous fellow with handsome masculine head and a very friendly expression in his well shaped eyes. Good bone and feet, sturdily built and so well made all through with good depth through the heart, layback of shoulder and bend of stifle. Well marked and most impressive on the move, happily wagging all the way.
2nd Barratt's Chippis Diamond Geezer. A 9 year old in splendid coat and hard muscular condition with strong level topline. A keen, energetic showman, just a little over-enthusiastic with his tail at times.

Minor Puppy Dog  (3)
1st Bird's Cullumbern Milano.
Just 6 months old and already seemed to know just how it all should be done and he did it. So happy, well balanced and obviously enjoying every moment to the full. Wonderful head with well shaped dark expressive eyes, so typey with every part fitting firmly and accurately into the whole with good topline, shoulders and quarters, already in good coat with rich tan markings.. A joy to handle and watch both standing and on the move, where he proved the excellence of his make and shape with well set and carried tail. I can only envy his lucky owner as this was the one the judge wished to kidnap and take home! Close up to the larger green edged cards. A star is surely born. Best Puppy in Show.
2nd King, Green & Dedman's Parwizz Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld) TAF. A happy character, very mature for his 8 months, in splendid coat and hard condition. Strong topline and well laid shoulder resulting in a good length of stride in profile. He, too, moved beautifully.
3rd Larkin & Hobson's Rodiveco Sagacity. Well marked happy personality with good bone, body, feet and topline with excellent coat. Can still build up a touch more muscle. .

Puppy Dog  (1)
1st King, Green & Dedman's Parwizz Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld) TAF.

Junior Dog  (2)
1st Cotton's Kernow Billy No Mates At Jukesbern.
Just a year old and holds himself so proudly, scoring here on balance. Very masculine with well shaped head and dark expressive eyes. Excellent bone and topline, neat feet, in hard muscular condition. Just toeing in a touch in front on the move.
2nd Kemp's Collansues Crazy Dreams. An enthusiastic mover who went with a spring in his stride, well set and carried tail. Dark well shaped eyes. Feet could be a little tighter.

Yearling Dog  (1)
1st Flanagan's Collansues Magical Spell.
Lovely head, eye and a very wise expression. Well made all through with good bone, layback of shoulder, depth through the heart, topline and compact feet. In the hardest of muscular condition. A strong energetic mover if a touch over enthusiastic with his tail at times. .

Beginners Dog  No entries

Maiden Dog  (1)
1st Bird's Cullumbern Milano.

Novice Dog  No entries

Graduate Dog  (1)
1st Stephenson's Kernow Something Perfect. Such an apt name for this handsome masculine fellow who came with the wow factor! Under his superb silky straight double coat is a firm compact body with good depth of chest, layback of shoulder and turn of stifle. Strong loin with level topline and well set and carried tail; in all excellent for make shape, size, type and balance. Super sound and positive on the move with good reach in profile. Delighted to see that I awarded his sire, Ch Kernow Something, the Reserve CC at Blackpool in '16. CC and Best in Show.

Post Graduate Dog  (6 entries, 1 absentee)
1st Cooke & Stevens' Tickbern Vagabond. Masculine 2 year old of excellent size and type with well laid shoulder, long tail, good bone, topline, tailset and carriage. He went well with good length of stride in profile.
2nd King & Bramble's Shirdees Leathal Weapon. Strongly built masculine fellow whose topline can firm a touch. Energetic and enthusiastic on the move.
3rd Austen's Halesbern The Warriors. 2 year old in excellent coat with good layback of shoulder and level topline . Just a bit too overenthusiastic with his albeit lovely long tail when moving.
Res Otero Rodriguez & Otero Scutt's Homer De Llobu Astur (Imp Esp).

Mid Limit Dog  (3, 1)
1st King & Green's Joseph Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld). Masculine head of good shape. So well made all through with good bone, body, shoulder angulation and bend of stifle. Longer in loin than some but such a very good mover, in lovely shiny silky coat.
2nd Wells' Bernfold Bard Benedick. An energetic well balanced showman in the hardest of muscular condition. Well conformed and an excellent mover. A lovely dog in every way, that is with the exception of his insistence on flying his long tail on the go round.

Limit Dog  (5, 1)
1st Rumble's Harvestbank In Dreams Of Glenbrienz. Well shaped head with dark expressive eyes. Excellent for make and shape with well laid shoulder and turn of stifle, strong level topline, good bone and bright tan markings, in excellent coat and condition. Scoring on length of neck to balance here. He moved with enthusiasm going particularly well behind and in side gait if a touch wide in front.
2nd Bridges' Deerpark Traveling Man V Kernow (Imp USA). A charming character with non-stop wagging tail. Slightly heavier in type and so well made all through, in huge mature double coat with a long, long tail. Very fit if a bit sleepy to the point that he lay down for an early siesta but, when roused, moved extremely well.
3rd Austen's Collansues Excalibur. Good layback of shoulder, compact feet and firm level topline. Could be deeper through the heart. Very fit, in hard muscular condition. He went well.
Res Watson's Jesterbrock Alpine Glory At Stepdashar.

Open Dog  (4, 1)
1st Vaychkus & Vaickus' Flintas Kalnu Suo At Berneroso ShCM (Imp Lt). A splendid masculine fellow, beautifully presented and so well made all through with a long well set and carried tail, in excellent coat and hard condition., scoring here on his strong level topline. Well balanced and a very good strong mover, particularly in front and in profile.
2nd Baldwin's Meadowpark First Class For Fortonpark. Handsome chap with good bone, layback of shoulder and compact feet in mature double coat. He moved with great enthusiasm if a touch over proud of his tail at times.
3rd Goodyear's Dunmill Summer Sunrise Over Harvestbank. Dark expressive eyes, in hard muscular condition. He went with a will on the move but, I suspect, would have gone even better with his obviously adored owner somewhere nearby.

Veteran Bitch  (2)
1st Wells' Bernfold Spring Blossom. 9 years old . Just gorgeous! Lovely for size, type, make and shape with all the parts fitting neatly and accurately into the whole. So well balanced with a beautiful feminine head with the darkest of pigment and eye. In the best of mature coat and hardest of muscular condition with long, well set and carried, non-stop wagging tail. Super sound. strong and positive on the move. A charming character and a great showgirl. Delighted to find that I had made her grandmother Best in Show at the SBMDC's Open Show back in '07. CC.
2nd Flanagan's Collansues Rosebud. She too was extremely fit, in hard condition and excellent coat with well set and carried tail. Just a little longer in loin than the winner. She moved with power and enthusiasm.

Minor Puppy Bitch  (2)
1st Head's Cullumbern Valencia Millermead. At first glance I thought that the Best Puppy Dog winner had entered the wrong class! This proved to be his litter sister and almost an exact twin with that same wonderful head, dark eye and irresistible expression, so well balanced, strong level topline and long tail. So good for make and shape with well laid shoulder, where she scored here, this being proved by her excellent movement. A showgirl as to the Manor Born and just lovely. A hard choice between the two for Best Puppy in Show but he was just that touch more mature while she still has to complete the final pigmentation on her nose. It was a case of a hair's breadth decision. Best Puppy Bitch.
2nd Wright & Kirk's Objet D Art Du Hameau De Baika Avec Roesilbern (Imp Fra).
Another beautiful youngster with long well set and carried tail, already in splendid coat and hard condition. Just a touch narrower in head than the winner. She too moved extremely well.

Puppy Bitch  (4)
1st Head's Cullumbern Valencia Millermead.
2nd King & Green's Olivia Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld).
She moved extremely well with good tailset and carriage. Just a little longer in loin than the winner, in hard muscular condition.
3rd Jones' Tremywyddfa Just In Time. Happy showgirl with dark expressive eyes and good firm topline. Lovely long non-stop wagging tail of which she was a bit over proud at times. Very fit, in good coat.
Res Cooke & Stevens' Tickbern What A Mischief.

Junior Bitch  (4, 1)
1st Flanagan's Collansues Lexi's Pot Of Gold.
Good for make and shape with well angulated shoulders and quarters, strong firm topline, long tail and good bone. She moved well.
2nd Flaxman's Nelstephbern Madamoiselle. Lovely head, eye and expression. Topline and feet can still firm a little. A good mover.
3rd Wells' Bernfold One In A Millyon. Lovely clean markings, compact feet and long tail. A very enthusiastic showgirl whose topline can still strengthen to make the most of her undoubted qualities. .

Yearling Bitch  (2, 1)
1st Baldwin's Fortonpark Sez I'm Classy.
Well named indeed! So good for size, type, make shape and balance. Strong and powerfully built with level topline, well angulated shoulders and quarters, compact feet and long well set & carried tail, in lovely mature shiny coat and good condition. A happy showgirl, super sound and balanced on the move with good reach in profile. Fit for purpose indeed, looking as if she could go all day with no trouble at all. Most exciting. Reserve CC.

Novice Bitch  (2)
1st Head's Cullumbern Valencia Millermead.

2nd Wright & Kirk's Objet D Art Du Hameau De Baika Avec Roesilbern (Imp Fra).

Graduate Bitch  (4)
1st Price's Silvretta Alpine Angel.
Well balanced with lovely head, eye and expression with good bone, topline, feet and layback of shoulder. Excellent size and substance, deep through the heart. A non-stop happy wagger, so very sound and positive on the move with no exaggerations
2nd Sutton & Davenport-Willis' Nelstephbern Dior Foreva. Beautiful head and dark expressive eye. So typey and well conformed all through with good bone and compact feet. A little reluctant to be handled at first but then braved it out after a minute or two and soon gained enough confidence to move extremely well with excellent tailset and carriage. Her turn will surely come.
3rd Westlake's Jesterbrock Lovestruck. An energetic enthusiastic showgirl in hard muscular condition. Despite having a good spring of rib could now do with more body.
Res Flanagan's Collansues Magical Potion.

Post Graduate Bitch  (6)
1st Bird & Head's Cullumbern Roman Toga With Millermead JW.
Lovely for type, make and shape with good depth through the heart, scoring here on size. She has a beautiful head and eye together with good movement if inclined to drop her topline just a little when standing. Not only good looking herself but it is said that 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating' and I gathered later that she is the dam of both top winning 6 month old puppies. What a triumph!
2nd Flaxman's Glanzberg See The Sun. She too is beautifully constructed, sturdy with a long tail and in splendidly hard muscular condition. Similarly topline could be firmer when standing. Sound as the proverbial bell on the move.
3rd Flanagan's Collansues Precious Rock. Rather taller in build with a strong level back and a long tail. She too went well.
Res Price's Kyleburn Night Umbrette At Silvretta.
VHC Watson's Stepdashar Winters Wish.

Mid Limit Bitch  (1, 1)

Limit Bitch  (7, 3)
1st Gorbould's Bernerhof Precious Phoebe.
A substantial well balanced lady of excellent size, type, make and shape, well off for bone and deep through the heart scoring here on balance, layback of shoulder and turn of stifle. Lovely dark expressive eyes and good finish to muzzle. Energetic and enthusiastic on the move.
2nd King & Bramble's Shirdees Miss Congeniality JW. A glamorous showgirl, chock full of quality and well marked with good rich tan and lovely dark eyes, just a little taller than the winner. A happy personality, who moved extremely well.
3rd Flanagan's Collansues Secret Whispa. Very energetic, in excellent coat. On the tall side and inclined to fly her lovely constantly wagging tail on the move.
Res Watson's Staubach Quiana At Stepdashar

Open Bitch  (7, 3)
1st Baldwin's Fortonpark Lilly's Delight.
See she is champion bred and this shows in her depth of quality. Excellent for make and shape, size and type with firm level topline and depth through the heart, well laid shoulder and turn of stifle. Good bone and body, compact feet, in splendid shiny mature coat. Lovely head and expression with good finish to foreface. A very good mover particularly behind but, for reasons of her own, just chose to toe in when it mattered most up against the other unbeaten bitches. See I gave her the Reserve CC as a puppy at Blackpool in '16 and she has matured into something special.
2nd Watson's Stepdashar Sommer Girl. In hard muscular condition and the most superb coat. Good layback of shoulder and long tail. Just a touch longer in loin than the winner. A great showgirl.
3rd Hughes' Ir Ch Werlwind's Celtic Dream For Carraigbern. Very smart and energetic, lovely feminine head and charming expression with excellent topline, good feet and muscle tone. Just a bit over proud of her tail on the move.
Res Gorbould's Bernerhof Precious Phoebe.

Breeders Bitch  (2)
1st Wells' Bernfold Spring Blossom.

2nd Flanagan's Collansues Sugar N Spice. Another beautiful one, so well made with good layback of shoulder and turn of stifle, firm level topline and long non-stop wagging tail, in hard muscular condition. Just a little longer in loin than the winner. Obviously enjoying herself to the full, this happy personality moved extremely well.
