Bernese News 13th June 2016

 





Breed specialist Julie Vaughan (Carlacot) was our judge at Southern Counties Championship
show and she drew 64 entries with 15 absentees across 12 classes.   

Winning his 2nd CC was Penny Gopal's 3 1/2 year old Collansues Secret Bridges.  Bred by
Sue Flanagan he is a son of Ch Collansues Buildin' Bridges At Bramikdel x Collansues
Snowonder.

The Reserve Dog CC was awarded to Bernice Mair, Carole Hartley-Mair & Gary Dybdall's
Meadowpark High Class and the same owners also won the Bitch CC, her 6th plus Best of
Breed with Ch Meadowpark Just A Dream who is a 2 1/2 year old daughter of Ch Tjofselinas
Z Diamuz At Fortonpark JW (Imp Swe) x Ch Meadowpark Living The Dream.  Her litter sister,
Julie Baldwin's Meadowpark Living My Dream At Fortonpark won the Reserve Bitch CC and
also took home the Best Puppy award with her 9 month old Meadowpark First Class For
Fortonpark  who is sired by Ch  meadowpark Vertigo JW x Meadowpark One Love. Later he
went on to win Working Puppy Group 3 under judge Patsy Hollings.

Sandy Rothery's homebred 8 year old Glamrock Future Legend ( Monalou Touch Of Dutch
To Glembrienz ShCM x Glamrock Spirit Of Youth) was awarded Best Veteran.

The Bernese entry for Blackpool Championship Show 2016 has been announced as
55 exhibits giving 63 entries for all-rounder judge Jane Lilley.  

For comparison the entry at Blackpool 2015 was 73 entries with 18 absentees for breed
specialist judge Trish Goodyear (Harvestbank).

Chris Wood emailed; 

"Layla aka Tamarbern Duky Maiden has kept the Bernese flag flying again by going Best of
Breed and then AV Working Open, then shortlisted last 6 in the Group under Gina Bowers
(Marchlands) at very wet Devon County Show.

"Then at a very long, hot day at Bath was placed 2nd out of 31 entries in Good Citizen
Stakes under Rodney Oldham . So proud of my gorgeous girl and treasure each moment
spent with her especially as we have had so many sad losses of young Bernese lately."

All-rounder judge Rodney Oldham was centre ring at Three Counties amidst an entry of
64 with 11 absentees across 10 classes .

The Dog CC, his second, was won by Reg & Sherry Round's 4 1/2 year old Collansues Black
Magic, bred by Sue Flanagan and sired by Ch Collansues Snowpatrol x Collansues Rock
Goddess.

Reserve to him was Bernice Mair, Carole Hartley-Mair & Gary Dybdall's 16 month old, 
homebred Ch Meadowpark High Class (Ch Meadowpark Vertigo JW x Meadowpark Northern
Blend.)   

In Bitches it was a third CC for Jayne and Terry Richards' Tickbern Naughty But Nice Von
Richenbern with the Reserve going to Julie Baldwin's Meadowpark Living My Dream At
Fortonpark. Rising 2 1/2 years old, she was bred by Bernice Mair and Carole Hartley-Mair
and is sired by Julie's own Swedish import Tjofselinas Z Diamuz At Fortonpark JW x
Ch Meadowpark Living The Dream.  Julie also collected the Best Puppy award with her
Meadowpark First Class For Fortonpark who was also bred by Bernice and Carole and he is
a son of Ch Meadowpark Vertigo JW x  Meadowpark One Lover.

This pup went on to take Working Puppy Group 2 under Jeff Luscott.

After the show Jayne Richards emailed; 

" I would like to say a big THANK YOU for all the good wishes and cheers from around the ring.
I have been showing since 1990 and this is my first champion. It was amazing to think that so
many people were pleased for me."

And so we have another new Champion, subject to Kennel Club confirmation.
