Bernese News 20th June 2017

 

The Southern BMD Club Championship Show was held on 11th June inside the Market Hall
at Lockmeadow, Maidstone, Kent.  I haven't been able to access the class results so I don't have
any entry figures etc. but the judge was all-rounder Kevin Young.

Club secretary Trish Goodyear kindly emailed the names of the principal winners to me.

My thanks to Rebecca King for permitting me to reproduce her photographs of some of the winners.

The Dog CC, his first plus Best in Show was awarded to Shandy Bridges & Karen Bird's Kernow
Something. Rising 2 years old, he was bred by Shandy and is a son of Karen's Ch Shirdees Love
Me Do At Cullumbern JW ShCM x Kernow Uptou. 

The Reserve CC went to Sandy Rothery's homebred Glamrock Graffiti Artist. who is almost 3 year
old and sired by Ch Jaybiem Utwo JW ShCM x Glamrock Midnight Raver.

The Bitch CC was won by Sue Flanagan's homebred Collansues Heart of Gold, a 5 1/2 year old 
who is a daughter of  Emberfay My Boy x Collansues Fields Of Gold.  

Faye Stannard's Meadowpark Beach Blend At Tangyachates took the Reserve CC. Bred by
Bernice Mair & Carole Hartley-Mair,  she is 4 1/2 years old and sired by Ch Tangyachates
Beachcomber x Meadowpark Royal Blend.

The Best Puppy winner was Rebecca King & Jackie Green's Joseph Vom Durrbachler Wald At
Arvella who wa simported from the Netherlands..  Congratulations.  

The Southern Club's next event is their Fun Day to be held on 15th July at Henfold Lakes,Henfold
Lane, Beare Green, near Dorking, Surrey. RH5 4RW. 

This event was originally planned as a weekend event as in previous years but this year the carting
parades, fun classes, obedience, junior handling and Good Citizens Awards will only be held on
the Saturday.  Camping will still be available fromThursday to Monday and the carters will still run
their activities throughout the weekend. The clubhouse at Henfold Lakes has also been rebuilt so the
facilities at the venue will be better than in previous years.

The Bernese entry for Windsor Championship Show 2017 has been announced as 77 exhibits
giving 81 entries for all-rounder judge Dr Ron James.

For comparison the entry at Windsor 2016 was 64 exhibits giving 68 entries with 22 absentees
judged by breed specialist Gill Sharman (Gillro) who stood in when the scheduled judge Helen
Davenport-Willis (Nellsbern) was unable to attend.


The entry for Blackpool Championship Show 2017 has been announced as 79 exhibits giving
97 entries for all-rounder Elina Harpaniemi (Finland).

For comparison the entry at Blackpool 2016 was 55 entries with 11 absentees for all-rounder
judge Jane Lilley.

The unbearably hot weather stayed above 30 degrees on three successive days here in Suffolk
At the other end of the country Border Union Championship Show was also experiencing very high
temperatures at the weekend too. 

Breed specialist judge Mark Wakeland (Bramikdel) drew 60 entries with 15 absentees across 16 
classes. 

Kernow Something owned by Karen Bird & Shandy Bridges won his 2nd CC plus Best of Breed, 
repeating his wins at the Southern BMD Club Championship Show the previous weekend.

The Reserve CC went to to Susan King's Elnside The Grandmaster.  Bred by Helen McAulay, this
2 year old is a son of Ch Jaybiem Utwo JW ShCM x Elnside Pretty Persuasion.  

In Bitches it was a 1st CC for Lianne Marsden & Dave Robertson's 3 year old homebred Trudaleaze
Majik Potion who is a daughter of Ch Jaybiem Innu Endo JW x T I Am A Maze Zing. 

The Reserve Bitch CC was won by Esther Ann McCormick's 6 year old Monalou Artoc Queen who
was bred by Michele Gurney and sired by Int Ch Bernerdalens Uno Amigo Bueno x Ch Monalou
Little Miss Swiss. 

Sue Flanagan won Best Puppy with her homebred 10 month old bitch Collansues Precious Rock
who is by Ch Kernow Rock Star x Collansues Rose Bud.  Congratulations.
