Bernese News 8th June 2017

At Southern Counties Championship Show 2017 all-rounder Jeff Horswell drew an entry of
69 with 11 absentees across 11 classes. 

The Dog CC was awarded to Carole Hartley-Mair & Gary Dybdall's homebred Ch Meadowpark
Vertigo JW.  3 1/2 years old he is a son of Ch Jaybiem Utwo JW ShCM x Meadowpark Sugar's
Diva.  Another bred by Carole and her late mother Bernice took the Bitch CC, her first plus
Best of Breed, namely Faye Stannard's Meadowpark Beach Blend At Tangyachates.  4 1/2 years
old, she is a daughter of Ch Tangyachates Beachcomber x Meadowpark Royal Blend.  

The Reserve CCs went to Tony and Pam Granger's Orlando Bloom At Jaybiem JW ShCM
(Ch Jaybiem Innu Endo JW ShCM x Lujento Black Betty), a 3 year old bred by Caroline Rush, 
and Shirdees Miss Congeniality who is 1 year old, owned and bred by Shirley King and Julie 
Bramble and sired by Ch Meadowpark High Class x Shirdees Chevrolet.

Shandy Bridges won Best Puppy with her homebred Kernow troubadour who is a son of
Shandy's USA import Deerpark Travelling Man V Kernow x Kernow Moon Song.

Best Veteran was awarded to Sandy Rothery's 8 year old homebred Glamrock Future Legend
who is sired by Monalou Touch Of Dutch To Glenbrienz ShCM x Glamrock Spirit Of Youth.


BATH CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW (No CCs for Bernese) 28th May 2017

Many thanks to Bath Championship Show, and the very hospitable and professional committee
for inviting me to judge the following breed (without CCs).

Also to my competent stewards who made sure everything ran smoothly. The day was made 
more enjoyable by the very pleasant and sporting exhibitors in all three breeds, thank you all.  

Puppy Dog  (7 entries, 2 absentees)
1st Bridges' Kernow Troubadour.
 8 months old, nice puppy in super coat and condition and
harmonious through the body. Good proportions and well boned. Nicely marked, Pleasing head
with good lips and pigment. Nice eye and excellent ears. Stood well on nice feet. Good chest and
underline for his age and well angulated front and back. Moved freely with a good tail carriage,
just a little close when going. Reserve Best Dog, Best Puppy.
2nd Bridge's Cullumbern Roman Road At Kernow. 8 months, excellent type, just starting into
the junior stage. Nice head with excellent lips. Ears well set, a touch large at the minute. Good
neck and withers just tends to roach his topline. Stands OK with good feet. Moved with a good
side gait, could be a little cleaner going.
3rd Stephenson's Kernow Something Perfect.  

Junior Dog  (3, 1)
1st Stephenson's Kernow Something Perfect.
 12 months old. Nice male of good proportions
and well marked. Good head type, nice tight lips with good pigment. Good eyes and ears.
Excellent neck and topline. Free and positive on the move with excellent drive behind, he just
needs to develop in forechest which at the moment is quite narrow and movement coming could 
be better.
2nd Miles' Jaybiem Stan Innovation. 12 months, in excellent coat and condition. Stands a little
longer in body than the winner. Pleasing head with excellent lips and pigment.  Lovely eye and
expression. Good neck and withers, topline could be firmer. Movement could be more fluid.

Post Graduate Dog  (2)
1st Bridges' Deerpark Traveling Man V Kernow (Imp).
 23 months, in good condition with good
proportions and bone. Masculine head with good lips and pigment.  Enough neck on strong withers,
firm topline. Good chest. Moved freely with a balanced side gait and well carried tail.
2nd Westlake's Apriori Uill Smith For Jesterbrock ARAF.  23 months. Strong male, standing a
little long in body. Nicely marked with a pleasing head,lovely eye. Good lips and pigment. Good
neck, topline a little soft. Good chest and underline, a little straight in hock. Moved OK.

Limit Dog  (2)
1st Rothery's Glamrock Graffiti Artist ShCM.
 23 months.  Upstanding dog in good coat and
condition and well boned. Masculine head, nice eye. Stood well with excellent feet. Good neck, 
strong withers, topline could be firmer. Well angulated. Moved well.
2nd Bird and Bridges' Kernow Something.  23 months, good size and proportions with
excellent bone and in good coat and condition. Pleasing head with a nice eye and well placed
ears. Little stuffy in neck, strong withers, topline OK. Good chest and angles.Moved well going
with a good side gait, could be cleaner coming.  

Open Dog  (2)
1st Hartley-Mair and Dybdall's Ch Meadowpark High Class.
 A 2.5 year old well marked and
upstanding male, very beautiful of excellent type. Presented in top condition, he is totally balanced,
of excellent proportions and super outline. Very pleasing head, masculine but not overdone. Good
lips and pigment. Nice eye and expressions, well set ears. Harmonious in neck, withers, firm,
strong topline and croup. With balanced angulations front and back, excellent chest and underline,
he stood perfectly on neat feet all of which showed in his strong movement with excellent reach
and drive, and balanced side gait with correct tail carriage. Was delighted to watch him later place
2nd in a very strong Working Group. Best Male and Best of Breed.
2nd Miles & Sampson's Jaybiem Mi Lord.  5 year old male, unfortunate to meet the winner today.
In full maturity and shown in excellent coat and condition. Good bone, stands a little too long in back.
Good head type, eyes good colour, just showing some third eyelid which takes from expression.
Excellent ears, good lips and pigment. Excellent neck on to strong withers, topline could be firmer
and back shorter. Good chest and underline, Angulations not quite balanced. Moved OK with a little
high set tail.

Puppy Bitch  (6, 1)
1st King & Bramble's Shirdees Miss Congeniality.
 12 months old, in good coat and condition.
Still a little loose all over and starting into her junior stage. Good proportions and bone,nicely
marked. Pleasing feminine head with excellent lips and pigment. Good neck and withers, topline 
a little soft at the moment. Good chest for her age. Well angulated front and back and moved
2nd Bridges' Kernow Speakeasy. 8 months, of good size and bone with nice proportions. Stood
well on good feet. Head still developing but balanced. Eyes could give a sweeter expression.
Nice tight pigmented lips and excellent ears. Good neck and topline, well developed in chest and
underline. Movement could be a little more fluid.
3rd Stannard's Kohbern Ballantynes Bett.  

Junior Bitch  (4)
1st Miles' Jaybiem My My My.
 12 months, lovely girl, harmonious and balanced with good bone
and in good coat and condition with nice markings. Feminine head with nice eye. Well pigmented
tight lips. Ears of good size and well set. Good neck, topline and croup. Excellent chest and under-
line. Balanced angulations and moved very well in all directions, considered for her Reserve Best
2nd Green's Bernerdalens Quest For Fame At Waldershelf (Imp).  15 months. Nice size and
good proportions in excellent condition. Well boned. Her head is still developing but in proportion.
Nice eye and ears. Excellent neck onto strong withers. Firm topline.  Well angulated front and back.
Moved OK going and on side gait, could be cleaner coming.
3rd Clough's Bernarks Now Or Never.

Post Graduate Bitch  (1)
1st Sayer's Tickbern Takin Liberties At Takodabern.
 2 years old. Medium size with good bone
and proportions. In good coat and condition. Pleasing head, nice eye and expression. Good lips
and pigment. Good neck, topline is a little soft. Good angulations behind. Stands a little down in
front. Good chest and feet. Moved well, just lost her topline.

Limit Bitch  (3)
1st Bird's Kernow Let It Be At Cullumbern JW.
 Nicely balanced 2 year old with good proportions
and bone. Won this class on movement which was very free and east and clean coming and going.
Good head type, medium brown eye which could be darker. Good neck and withers, slight dip
behind the shoulder. Good chest and underline. Balanced angualtions.
2nd Stannard's Kohbern Swans Of Samui. Good size and bone and showing a nice outline.
Pleasing head, lips could be more pigmented. Good neck and topline. Wel developed in chest and
underline. Stood well. Movement could be a little more fluid on the side gait, OK going and could be
cleaner coming.
3rd Westlake's Alpine Joy Page Story At Jesterbrock (Imp).  

Open Bitch  (2 )

Two very different styles of females in this class but both of excellent quality and super movers.
1st Sutton's Ch Bernsteph Dior Remember Me JW ShCM.  4 years old, in excellent coat and
condition. Medium size female with good proportions and excellent bone. Balanced head with nice
eye and well set ears. Good lips and enough pigment. Excellent neck on strong withers, good topline
and croup. Well developed in chest and underline and good angulations front and back. Stood well
on excellent feet. Movement was free and balanced and clean coming and going. Best Female.
2nd Stannard's Meadowpark Beach Blend At Tangyachates.  5 years and not looking it, in super
condition with nice markings. Bigger bitch than the winner but still well proportioned with good bone.
Good head type with a beautiful eye and expression, moderate stop. Excellent neck and topline
and well angulated. Good chest and underline, excellent stance and movement was positive and
sound in all directions. Reserve Best Female.

Veteran Dog or Bitch  (1)
1st Wood's Tamarbern Dusky Maiden
.  8.5 years old, still enjoying her time in the ring and
presented in good coat and condition. Pleasing head, eyes could be darker and better shaped.
Excellent ears. Good neck and topline. Well angulated behind, little straighter in front. Stood well
with excellent feet. Moved well all directions maintaining her shape and tail carriage. Best Veteran.
