SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB (MAY) CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 18th May 2018

43 dogs entered, 5 absentees. I was pleased with the entry, not many absentees and some excellent dogs to go over.

I am sure, along with many of the entrants an outside ring would have been more suitable. I know that the UK's weather is unpredictable but we are all waterproof if it comes to that. The noise in the hall early on was booming, very loud. Two classes of non CC low entry breeds before two reasonable entry CC breeds meant we all had to be patient with Bernese being last on and running late. I was asked several times to speed up the judging to make the Working Group which doesn’t seem fair to the entrants who’ve been waiting around all day. I ignored that request.

Puppy Dog  (1 entry, 1 absentee)

Junior Dog  (4 entries)
1st Green's Matthias Vom Durrbachler Wald At Waldershelf.
Well up there in size. Strong well developed head, markings good and nice rich tan, reasonably well off for bone with tight feet, Straight front with good length of upper arm. Movement was good both up and down with a correct topline. Still young but maturing nicely.
2nd Roberts & Seaman's Esslinbern Saruman. Medium size dog with good overall body proportions, Head good, good front and rear assembly, excellent depth of chest. Movement could improve, he is a little untidy at the moment.
3rd Scott's Szarhegyaljai Elijah At Scobern (Imp Hun)
Res Dickson's Monalou Raffael At Geruth

Post Graduate Dog  (5, 1)
1st Addison's Monalou Bollinger.
A very nice medium sized, well proportioned dog, maturing nicely. Stood out as an easy winner in this class. Strong head and correct ear-set which he used to his advantage and was very in tune with his handler. Adequate bone for his size. Good mover, best in this class.
2nd Instone & Clegram's Staubach Odysseus. Small/medium sized dog with correct proportions. Very nice head and eye. Would have liked a little more length of neck. Good bone for his size. Adequate movement. Shown and presented well.
3rd Macleod's Solo Van’t St-Niklas (Imp Pol)
Res Horn's Husheen Let Me love You

Limit Dog  (3)
1st Baldwin's Meadowpark First Class For Fortonpark.
His name suits him, a first class masculine dog with an excellent temperament, totally in tune with his handler and full of himself. Very much like the Open class winner. Shown in stunning condition. Strong masculine head with good ear-set. Correct front assembly. Well off for bone with nice tight feet. Tail a little on the short side. Purposeful movement, excellent from all sides. Reserve CC.
2nd King's Elnside The Grandmaster.
Came up against some excellent dogs today. Another who’s temperament came through, wagging his tail throughout. Nice looking medium sized dog with strong head and nice expression. To be hypercritical maybe could benefit from a bit more length of neck and stronger behind although reasonably well off for muscle.
3rd Hastings' Bernemcourt Liv’n On A Prayer

Open Dog  (4)
1st Hartley-Mair & Dybdall's Ch Meadowpark High Class.
Maturing up nicely. A super medium/large sized dog of good proportions. Classic head type with correct ear-set and excellent front angulation along with broad chest. Everything about him is so correct from his head to the tip of his tail. Moved with ease and has a gait to please all. Kept his topline throughout and finished his movement to free stand four square. Presented in top condition. Won this class, the CC and Best of Breed with lots to spare. Also went on to win the Working Group.
2nd Bird & Bridges' Ch Kernow Something ShCM. A medium sized dog with a good head masculine head and dark eye. Could benefit from a little more length of neck. Well off for bone, good angulation and level topline.. Movement was OK.
3rd Hughes' Waldershelf Causing Kaos
Res Scott's Welshbern One Vision At Scobern ShCM

Veteran Dog   (3)
1st Hogg & Newton's Kumo Van’t Maroyke (Imp Bel).
A very nice well balanced veteran with much to like. Medium sized with a strong masculine head, good length of leg and excellent topline, correct tail carriage. Moved comfortably around the ring.
2nd Addison's Torralbaz Lord Of The Manor. Another nice dog, very attentive. Good front assembly but maybe a little short in neck length. Decent shape but would have liked a bit better angulation on his rear. Reasonable muscle with good bone for his size and nice tight feet. Shown in good condition and moved well.
3rd Carty's Flosskirk Berneray

Puppy Bitch  (3, 1)
1st Hartley-Mair's Meadowpark Touch Of Class.
Happy puppy bitch shown in excellent condition.Lovely feminine head, ears set a little low. Maybe a little long cast at present. Medium size with good bone, kept her topline whilst on the move. Shows well for her handler and in excellent condition.
2nd Instone & Clegram's Porrtia From Balihara Ranch At Staubach (Imp Sk). Nice head and eye. A bitch of slightly long proportions who will need time to mature .Rear movement needs to strengthen. Well presented.

Junior Bitch   (3)
1st Gerrard's Monalou Contessa At Torralbaz.
Nice bitch of medium size, excellent feminine head. I feel she is a little long in body but has good bone and angulation and stands four square for her handler. Correct tail set. Moved in a relaxed manner.
2nd Tomkins' Kinelarty Free As A Bird For Bernershaw. Still looks a baby and needs time to develop. Medium size with adequate bone. Well presented. Movement needs to be worked on, moving close behind..
3rd Jeffries' Esslinbern Leia’s Bliss

Post Graduate Bitch   (7)
Moved this class more than other classes to show the difference in movement.
1st Miles' Jaybiem Burli Shassi. A strong excellent quality bitch from this kennel, good proportions and angulation. Well off for bone with a lovely head, dark eye and rich tan. Excellent all round movement keeping her topline.
2nd Davidson's Liskarn River Lee. I really liked this bitch, only her second time out today. Hope she won’t be overlooked in the future due to her inexperienced young handler who needs more practice to get the best from her. On the move she really comes into her own. Large, well muscled quality bitch with ample bone, strong but feminine head, dark eyes. Good angles all round. Moved freely with drive.
3rd Bird & Head's Cullumbern Roman Toga With Millermead JW.
Res Dickson's Monalou Star Princess
VHC Davidson's Meadowpark Pure Breeze,

Limit Bitch  (4, 1)

This young bitch looked a little subdued today, having said that there is much to like about her. Correct type with a strong but feminine head and nice eye. Well muscled with good bone and tight feet, Strong well balanced body. moved well from all sides with correct tail carriage. Her side movement was really good.
2nd Baldwin's Fortonpark Chasing Dreams. Another young bitch with a happy temperament. Lovely feminine head and correct ear-set, not as strong in body as the winner. Good side profile and correct angles both front and rear. Her rear movement needs to strengthen and she tends to stand with her hind feet out.
3rd Bird's Kernow Let It Be At Cullumbern JW.

Open Bitch  (4, 1)
1st Baldwin, Fortonpark Dutch Delight.
Medium sized quality bitch with good proportions and outline. Typical head and expression. Shown in top condition. Good bone with straight front assembly and good length of upper arm. Good length of neck. Moved with purpose and soundness keeping a good topline. CC.

. A really nice medium sized bitch with a lot to like about her. Medium build with good bone and a pleasing outline. Good body shape and stands out in profile, moved around the ring as good as any of the bitches here today. Shown in excellent coat. Best Veteran.
2nd Hogg's Ischka Van’t Maroyke To Buganezee (Imp Bel). Smaller bitch with correct bone for her size. Lovely feminine head. Good proportions but a little soft in the topline. Movement was adequate.
