Bernese News 4th May 2016

WELKS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 24th April 2016

I had some very good dogs to go over today, overall movement was not bad, no mouth faults,
a couple of short tails and my top placings were a pleasure to go over.

It was a shame to see the absentees and some turned up too late for their classes - very
unfortunate all that way for nothing; the start did seem to be too early for a Sunday and the
ring was empty after Bernese.

Minor Puppy Dog  No entries

Puppy Dog  (1 entry)
1st Barsby & Bonham's Halesbern Naughty But Nice.
11 months old, big lad, quite rangy
making him a bit untidy on the move but good body shape.  Enough bone for size.  Nice head.
Just needs time to get himself together.

Junior Dog  ( 5 entries, 3 absentees)
1st Phillips' Monalou Norwegian Star.
Good looking young lad.  Nice head shape, kind
expression,  Good front, enough bone for size, level topline. Movement true coming and going.
2nd Wakeland's Shirdees Joe Dimaggio At Bramikel.  Another lad coming along nicely but
he did not have his mind on the job today, he was not settled but nevertheless he is a sound
dog.. Good bone. Nice head and expression.

Novice Dog  (2, 1)
1st Romanov's Waldershelf Fancy Phoenix.
He has a plain, narrow head which takes away
that soft expression. Good reach of neck and level top line, would like more bone. Moved soundly
and true around the ring.

Post Graduate Dog  (6, 3)
1st Bridges' Kernow Something.
Strong, 20 month old male, plenty to like. Very handsome.
Good head shape, dark faced but still has that lovely soft expression. Dark eye. Good body shape
and correct angulation Topline and tail set correct. Lovely dog, just lost his sparkle in the challenge.
2nd Vaychkus' Flintas Kalnu Suo (Imp Lt). Good angulation all through. Firm, level topline.
Good body shape but would like more spring of rib moved well coming and going
3rd Hastings' Bernemcourt Liv’n On A Prayer.

Limit Dog  (7, 2)
1st Hyland's Charmsway Adventurer.
This was a lovely class and in the end it came down to
movement. I really like this boy, he is the old-fashioned type. Plenty of substance (a tad less
would be even better) and bone to match with a smashing head and lovely, soft expression and
his movement is effortless, true and strong. Super tail set and carriage. Good angulation. What
more do you want? I was delighted to award him the Dog CC.
2nd Green's Alpenspirit Pure Pleasure For Arvella (Imp Can). Another lovely dog of excellent
type, very close decision. He has a super head. Good angulation, enough bone, good topline and
tail set. Just a tad close behind but very sound mover. Reserve Dog CC.
3rd Miles & Sampson's Jaybiem Mi Lord.

Open Dog  (4, 2)
1st Bridges' Ch Kernow Rock Star.
Handsome dog.  Lovely head and eye giving that soft
expression. Would like more neck. Lovely front. Good short, straight hocks. Sound on the move
coming and going. He is all in proportion but would just like more of him.
2nd Griffiths, Orme & Miles' Ch Jaybiem Y’euben Chozen JW ShCM. Another good dog.
Good body shape with enough bone. Moves very soundly front and rear. A bit plain in the head
for me and carries tail too high.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Dog   No entries

Minor Puppy Bitch  (1)
1st Baker's Tinland Molly Malone.
This puppy was very worried about the whole thing but
hopefully she will gain confidence as she is quite promising in head and body shape. Enough
bone, good angles.

Puppy Bitch  (5)
1st Jones' Lujento Gloria Swan Song.
When she entered the ring I hoped she would be as good
as she looked and she did not disappoint. Another old-fashioned type. Lovely, chunky body shape
and bone to match. Tail set and topline good.  Head coming on, lovely eye shape and colour.
Moved very positively for one so young. One to watch. Best Puppy.
2nd Vaychkus & Vaickus' Blue Aira Bernenskie Ranczo (Imp Pol).  I also like this puppy. She
has good body shape, level topline, good reach of neck.  Nice bone.  Moves well but coming
towards she is out at elbows. Expression could be more feminine, nice dark eye.
3rd Small's Malindibeach Faberge Fancy.

Junior Bitch (4, 2)
1st Bridges' Kernow Festival Days.
14 months, she is coming on nicely.  Good front, nice body
shape. Enough bone for size. Good shoulder placement. A bit scatty on the move but sound.
2nd King's Ecalpharas Moonshine Over Leapingwell.  Not the build of 1st but coming on well.
She moved well. Good head and expression. Nice level topline. Good tail set and carriage.

Novice Bitch  (3, 1)
1st Allison's Alisonbern Rainbow Diamond.
Very nice head and expression.  Good length of
neck. Enough bone for size. She is a tad long in middle section but super angulation back and
front. Movement OK.
2nd Vaychkus & Vaickus' Blue Aira Bernenskie Ranczo (Imp Pol).

Post Graduate Bitch  (11, 1)
1st Bridges' Kernow Hello Old Friend.
She took my eye as soon as she entered the ring. The
overall picture was very pleasing, beautifully presented. Good head and eye. Correct body
proportions, level topline. Good tail set and carry, moved very freely around the ring for a two year
old, she is maturing very nicely indeed. One to watch in the future.  Reserve Bitch CC.
2nd Bird's Kernow Let It Be With Cullumbern. Another lovely girl, beautifully presented, her
coat in tip top condition. Very nice head shape, dark markings but still has that lovely soft,
feminine expression. Good bone and body shape. Correct tail set and carry but just not as one with
handler today.

Limit Bitch  (7, 1)
1st Atherton's Athersbern Peronella Blush.
Another eye-catcher in full bloom, beautifully
presented. Very feminine bitch, good body and head. Correct eye shape and colour. Good reach
of neck, very compact, level topline. Effortless movement, plenty of drive from the rear and reach
at the front. Good angulation front and rear. Very pleased to award her the Bitch CC, her third
I understand. Congratulations she deserves her title and Best of Breed.
2nd Flanagan's Collansues Heart Of Gold. A lot to like with this girl.  Stood she has a very
shapely outline and she is very strong on the move. Good angulation and bone. Correct tail set
and carry. Dark facial markings but a still feminine expression, nice head shape and eye.
3rd Griffiths, Slade & Orme's Jaybiem Vou Doo At Potterspride JW.

Open Bitch  (5, 2)
1st Goodyear – Harvestbank Fields of Gold JW ShCM.
She is a favourite of mine. Lovely head,
good body and bone. Beautifully presented, another good old-fashioned type. Maximum size,no
more weight needed. The only thing she does need to complete the picture is enthusiasm on the
move; fine for one round then gives up, nothing in the tank for the challenge unfortunately.
2nd Stannard's Meadowpark Beach Blend At Tangyachates.  Coming 4 years and maturing
well all through. Good body shape, nice angles front and back. Moved very soundly. Good topline
and tail set, could just do with more pro-sternum and broader head.
3rd Richards' Tickbern Naughty But Nice Von Richenbern.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Bitch  (3, 2)
1st Wood's Tamarbern Dusky Maiden.
Judge - Anne Wells (Bernfold)
