Bernese News 5th October 2017

Always enjoy this breed this being the second time I have given CCs in the UK having also judged
them in Europe and Norway with CACs as far back as 1968.

Thank you for your entries, not a big one 40 dogs but I certainly had the quality present! An
excellent steward working all by himself and a large ring giving everyone the chance to show off
their dogs movement.  The results as I saw the on the day.

Minor Puppy Dog  (1 entry)
1st Scott's Szarhegyaljai Elyjah At Scobern (Imp). Just 6 months at his first show, well schooled,
very interesting and showing much promise. Head still developing, excellent bite, eye, lips could be
a shade tighter. Excellent  bone, straight front, well developed body, brisket down to elbows. Strong
backline, good quarters. In lovely condition and he moves soundly and well, be interesting to see
how he comes on.

Puppy Dog  (1)
1st Wakeland's Collansues Secret Potion At Bramikdel.
Top class 10 month old. Quality, excellent
breed type, shape and balance at this stage in his development. Good head, eye and bite. Deep chest,
tight elbows, he's a lovely body for his age and good quarters. Sound action. Sure to do very well in
his breed, when it came to Best Puppy he was not as settled as the girl but it could have gone either

Junior Dog
1st Griffiths, Orme & Miles' Jaybiem With N Without Y'Zeus.
Oh this youngster truly impressed,
about right everywhere at this stage. Shouts quality and breed type and such a good mover. I
seriously considered him for the Reserve CC running around with what turned out to be his sire. I
thought he was not ready but unless something goes seriously wrong I would say a future CC
winner, loved him.

Post Graduate Dog  (5)
1st Fairclough's Monalou Spirit Of Discovery.
2 year old of excellent breed type and a look of
quality. Loved the head, eye and bite. Straight front, excellent bone, strong backline, deep chest to
elbows. Strong quarters and I so liked that free, easy action. In splendid jacket, all round a truly very
nice dog.
2nd Phillips' Monalou Norwegian Star. Brothers I see and not a lot to separate them, same excellent
breed type, shape and balance. He also moves freely and well, sure to swap around and it should not
be a problem, liked them both very much.
3rd Grimes' Stormberne Let It Snow.

Limit Dog (4) all present,
1st Granger's Orlando Bloom At Jaybiem JW ShCM.
Loved his size, shape and breed type.
Excellent head qualities, good neck, plenty of forechest. Strong bone and good feet. Shapely body,
tight elbows, strong quarters. When he moved his 1st prize was never going to be an issue, CC
quality, I can give no bigger compliment.
2nd Wakeland's Shirdees Joe Dimaggio At Bramikdel (JW). Again top class and such a happy
boy, his tail never once stopped. Lots to like, he's quality and breed type in full, easy action.
3rd Hartley-Mair & Dybdall's Meadowpark Dream On.

Open Dog (5)
1st, CC and Best of Breed Hartley-Mair & Dybdall's Ch Meadowpark High Class.
Wow, Wow,
without doubt the best Bernese I have ever judged! He was my Group 2 winner at this year's Bath,
need I say more only his movement is truly outstanding. I thought he looked just wonderful in the
Group today! That’s dog showing.
2nd Hartley-Mair & Dyball's Ch Meadowpark Vertigo JW. Sire of winner and those two exciting
juniors, what do I say?  He was my Group 2 at Three Counties and I gave him a Reserve CC as a
puppy. Wonderful champion and another who can move. He had to settle for another Reserve CC
today behind his son. What quality Bernese this kennel consistently puts in the ring, still love him.
3rd Scott's Welshbern One Vision At Scobern ShCM.

Veteran Bitch  (1)
1st and Best Veteran, Shopland-Reed's Kyleburn Night Prelude.
A truly amazing 12 year old,
no one had told her, went round the ring like a 2 year old if a little steady! In wonderful condition,
obviously well loved and taken care of.

Minor Puppy Bitch  (3)
1st Watson's Stepdashar Winters Wish.
6 months, first show, quality baby. Pleasing head,
excellent bite. Shapely body developing well, excellent bone, plenty of substance. preferred her eye
to ...
2nd Corrigan's Szarhegyaljai Elektra (Imp). Quality baby, pleasing head shape, excellent bite.
Strong backline, excellent bone, sound easy action.

Puppy Bitch  (2)
1st and Best Puppy, Spencer's Padiky Starr Studded Skye.
Big girl, still feminine. Very
attractive head, good eye, excellent bite. Correct neck, straight front with enough bone. Shapely
profile, deep chest, tight elbows. She was shown to perfection by a young lady, moves truly with
easy, ground-covering action.
2nd Dyball, Lydon & Hartley-Mair's Meadowpark Girl On Fire For Rodiveco. Quality, loved the
breed type, feminine and very shapely. On the day preferred the winner's action but she shows

Junior Bitch  (1)
1st Miles' Jaybiem My My My.
Loved her the moment she entered the ring, at this stage my eyes
and hands would not change a thing. Excellent balance, excellent breed type, excellent movement.
Like her brother I bought her up to challenge the 2nd in Open. Not ready yet but another budding

Post Graduate Bitch  (2)
1st Grimes' Fortonpark Future Dreams.
Quality, loved that head, excellent bite. Deep chest,
excellent bone, straight front.  Good feet. Strong backline and very good quarters. Shown in full
bloom, easy, strong movement, all round a very nice girl.

Limit Bitch  (5)
1st Granger's Shirdees Harlow Jean Of Shadybower JW.
Loved the size and overall balance of
this girl, shouts quality and breed type. Excellent head, excellent bite. Strong neck flows nicely over
the withers, no lumps or bumps, straight front.  Excellent bone. Correct topline and depth of brisket,
strong quarters and that lovely free, easy action was always going to appeal toy eye. In my opinion
ticket quality.
2nd Hartley-Mair's Meadowpark Special Blend. Smaller, very feminine, loved the breed type with
so much to like, just preferred the winner coming towards me. Even so high class indeed.
3rd Shopland-Reed's Fleur De Neboa De Meigas (Imp).

Open Bitch  (9)
1st and CC Hartley-Mair & Dybdall's Ch Meadowpark Just A Dream.
Yet another stunning
Bernese from this kennel, everything to like, quality and breed type in full. Had to be on top form to
go over.
2nd and Reserve CC, Atherton's Ch Athersbern Peronelle Blush. New to me as was the winner
but no surprise to find her titled ,looked a champion from the moment she entered the ring! Could
easily change places with the winner and that should not be a problem and like winner had the move-
ment I insist upon. Very impressive lady.
3rd Green's Waldershelf All About Edna JW.
