SOUTHERN BMD CLUB OPEN SHOW 6th October 2019

A huge thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge this lovely show. Bernese have always had a special place in my heart. I was in my element. Sincere thanks to my very competent stewards who made the ring run very smoothly. The exhibitors too for bringing me some lovely dogs.

Minor Puppy Dog (1 entry, 1 absent)

Puppy Dog (1)
1st Bird's Cullumbern Milano.
A handsome 10 month old young man with endearing expression. Head maturing well. Good almond shaped dark eye. Correct neck into well placed front. Lovely compact body, well angled rear. Well off for bone for his age and moved effortlessly around the ring. Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy in Show.

Junior Dog (3)
1st Miles' Jaybiem Modus Operandi JW.
Super young dog, so well balanced with much promise. The best of heads with gentle expression. Well angulated front, compact body. Straight, firm top line with well muscled and good angled rear. Neat feet. Lovely marked boy shown in excellent condition. Moved so sound and true.
2nd King & Green's Parwizz Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld). Good head and neck. Lovely front assembly, correct amount of bone and substance for age. Pleasing outline. Moved sound and true.
3rd Cotton's Kernow Billy No Mates At Jukesbern.

Special Yearling Dog (1)
1st Kemp's Collansues Crazy Dreams.
Much to like about this 18 month old youngster. Correct in outline, good head and neck. Shoulders flat, straight front, good pasterns, well bent stifles, hocks well let down. Moved out balanced and true.

Maiden Dog (1)
1st Game's Chippis Diamond Wizard.
Good size and outline. well proportioned head, correct mouth and dentition. Lovely dark eye. Correct top line and tail set. Well off for bone and substance. Moved well.

Novice Dog (3)
1st Arciszewiska & Sherratt's Kyleburn Night Voyager.
Substantial male of 3 years old. Good head proportions and endearing expression. Strong and sturdy in bone and body. Correct well muscled rear. Neat feet. Straight, well let down hocks. Overall a very powerful straight mover.
2nd Game's Chippis Diamond Wizard.
3rd King & Green's Parwizz Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld).

1st Arciszewiska & Sherratt's Kyleburn Night Voyager.

1st Austen's Halesbern The Warriors.
Mature boy with a typical head and soft expression. Enough neck into strong shoulders. Good depth of brisket. Correct length of back and muscular rear. Good tail set moved with drive.
2nd Otero Rodriguez & Oters Scutt's Homer De Llobu Astur (Imp Esp). Very typey male with correct head, neat ears. Compact body, good angled rear with correct tail set. Moved freely.

Limit Dog (3)
1st Flanagan's Collansues Magical Spell.
Striking 2 year old young man with the best of heads; lovely dark eye and melting expression. Well set ears. Correct length of neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest, strong loin with level top line. Well set and carried tail. Lovely neat feet. Moved out so well, such a balanced powerful mover. Shown in superb condition. Best Dog and Best in Show.
2nd King & Green's Joseph Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld).
3 year old boy, very similar to my winner. Well constructed and mature. Lovely masculine head with correct eye shape. Strong body with excellent bone. Lovely deep chest and well ribbed with strong loins. Shown in excellent coat and condition. Moved around the ring with lovely reach and drive. Reserve Best Dog in Show.
3rd Goodyear's Dunmill Summer Sunrise Over Harvestbank.

1st Bridges' Deerpark Traveling Man V Kernow (Imp USA).
4 year old mature boy. Beautiful strong male head. Good front, strong bone, good body, hocks well let down. Correct top line and tail set. Moved out well.
2nd Austen's Collansues Excalibur. A mature boy of 6 years. Good head with lovely expression. Dark eye. Correct length of neck into well made body. Strong male of good type. Moved well.
3rd Rothery's Ch Glamrock Graffiti Artist ShCM.
Res Rumble's Harvestbank In Dreams Of Glenbrienz.

Veteran Bitch (3)
1st Rothery's Glamrock Future Legend.
Well what a fantastic bitch for11 years old. Super fit and sprightly. Lovely feminine head with super expression. Excellent breed type, correct size and substance. Well marked. Today she out-moved many younger exhibits. Balanced outline on her exceptional movement. Best Veteran and Reserve Best Bitch in Show.
2nd Flanagan's Collansues Rosebud.
Another fabulous girl of 9 years. None of these veterans showed their age. Pleasing head and expression Straight front, level top line and good tail carriage. Nicely marked. Stylish mover.
3rd Holloway's Brenodor The Wonder Of You. The baby of the the three at 7 years but super example of the breed. Moved balanced and true. All three owners should be very proud of the condition and lovely coats of these three elder ladies.

Puppy Bitch (2)
1st Head's Cullumbern Valencia Millermead.
Litter sister to my puppy dog, a beautifully marked head with the sweetest expression, correct ear set. Good dentition. Good length of neck into a well made body. Presented a lovely outline both standing and on her balanced movement. Very close up to her brother. Obviously needs to mature that bit more but everything there waiting. Such a happy disposition. Loved her. Best Puppy Bitch and Reserve Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Randall's Xaria Heart Of Gold. Only 9 monnths old and still very much a baby. Excellent head shape, dark eyes. Correct dentition. Well made front. Good body, adequate rear. Well marked. A little unsettled today but moved well considering. Time is on her side.

Junior Bitch (6, 2)
1st King & Green's Olivia Vom Durrbachler Wald At Arvella (Imp Nld).
Pretty girl of 16 months. From the same parents as my Reserve Best Dog. The best of heads and lovely expression. Well set ears, good dentition, lovely dark eyes. Correct size for age, strong and well put together. Strong hocks well let down. Balanced ground covering movement.
2nd Wright & Kirk's Objet D Art Du Hameau De Bailka Avec Roesilbern JW (Imp Fra). Only just out of puppy. Beautiful young bitch in the making. Lovely type, nicely moulded head, dark eyes, neat ears. Well put together with strong bone. Lovely markings with correctly coloured tan. Super free mover. Feel the best is yet to come.

1st Sutton & Davenport-Willis' Nelstephbern Dior Forever.
Attractive bitch coming up to 19 months. Well balanced head, dark expressive eyes. Well constructed all through. Good bone and compact feet. Excellent in size and substance, deep brisket. Positive and sound on her steady, balanced movement.

Another lovely bitch from this kennel. 3 years old, excellent type. Feminine head. Correct length of neck into well made front, deep brisket. Strong well ribbed body and excellent rear. Pleasing mover.

1st Flanagan's Collansues Precious Rock.
Another attractive 3 year old bitch from this kennel who breeds some lovely dogs. Lovely typey head, super dark eye and beautiful expression. Well off for bone but retains her femininity. Neat feet. Super top line. Well marked. Impressive on the move.
2nd Harris' Meadowpark Dancin' On My Own. Excellent head and lovely expression, neat ears. Strong jaw with correct dentition. Correct neck into straight front. Compact body with good rear. Moved with powerful stride.

1st Mutter's Barinkar Everlasting Love.
Lovely bitch with good head proportions. Lustrous eyes with soft expression. Good neck and shoulders, balanced body with adequate substance. Shown in excellent coat and condition. Moved out with balanced and ample drive.

1st Sutton's Ch Bernsteph Dior Remember Me JW ShCM.
Text book head and expression. Type in abundance, ideal bone and substance. Super neck and shoulder, well ribbed level top line. Correct tail set. Shown in superb condition and moved with style and grace.
2nd Miles' Ch Jaybiem My My My JW. Another very worthy Champion which made my decision very difficult. Loved her head, body she was constructed so well with superb rear. So very similar to my winner. Shown to advantage in great coat and condition. Movement was spot on. Wish they could both have been 1st.

Junior Dog  (3 entries)
1st McDonald’s Elnside Captain Fantastic.
Nice well grown male of 16 months with beautifully balanced headpiece. He had correctly shaped dark eyes, well placed neat ears and good mouth with correct dentition and bite. He had a pleasing forehand, shapely well covered body, excellent front and rear quarters. This boy was correctly marked and had nice bone and a strong straight back. He was in good coat and condition and set up and showed to advantage eventually; he moved easily and freely around the ring and I was pleased to award him the Reserve Dog CC.
2nd Norris’ Elenius Life Genri (Imp Rus).
13 month old baby and looked it. This male needs a good handler on him to show off his many attributes. I liked his head that was nicely balanced to body with flat skull, nice eyes, ears, muzzle and mouth. He came together well with nicely laid back shoulders and straight front legs, broad chest and deep brisket. Hindquarters were broad, nicely bent stifles and he set up and showed well and moved steadily.
3rd Copeland’s Szarhegyaljai Fifty Fifty.

1st Addison’s Monalou Bollinger.
Nice male of 3 years with well balanced typical head piece showing dark expressive eyes, well place ears and good mouth with correct bite and dentition. He had a shapely well covered body, good forehand and pleasing rear quarters. I liked his bone and strong straight back. He set up and showed well and moved easily and freely around the ring.
2nd Dickson’s Monalou Raffael At Geruth.
Nice male of 2 yreas that I thought to be my winner but he persisted in standing too close in front. I liked his head that was nicely balanced to body and good eyes, ears, muzzle and mouth. His body was well covered and shapely with deep chest and well sprung ribs. He stood on good legs and feet and set up and handled well and moved steadily.
3rd Roberts & Seaman’s Esslinbern Saruman.

Limit Dog  (4, 1)
1st Hastings' Bernemcourt Liv’n On A Prayer.
Super clean looking well marked male of 5 years. Caught my eye immediately and did not disappoint on going over him. He was in excellent coat and hard muscular condition with the best of heads, slightly oval shaped dark expressive eyes, dry flat skull, well defined stop and nicely balanced strong straight muzzle. This boy had a super shapely well covered body with wide chest, deep brisket, good rib cage, lovely rounded rump and correct tail set and carriage. He stood on good legs and feet and came together so well, he set up and showed to advantage and moved around the ring easily and freely with an effortless steady action, taking strides of equal length with a good reach in front and good thrust from the rear and I was pleased to award him the CC and Best of Breed and surprised he is not a champion.
2nd Reynolds & Pawlyszyn’s You’re Good But Iam Better Berno Vega (Imp Ltu).
Balanced male of 2 years with lovely head, nice flat skull, dark expressive eyes, well defined stop, good muzzle and nice mouth with correct dentition and bite. He had a pleasing forehand with moderately laid shoulders, straight front legs down to slightly bent pasterns and neat compact feet. His body was shapely with broad chest, deep brisket and pleasing outline. Hind quarters were broad with nicely bent stifles and he set up and showed well and moved steadily.
3rd Cockburn’s Kernow Rock Legend.

1st Scott’s Welshbern One Vision At Scobern ShCM.
Balanced male of 6 years with profuse coat. Good head type with nice kind eye, neat well placed ears, nice muzzle and good mouth. He had a strong neck let into long sloping shoulders and a well covered shapely body with correct tail set and carriage. This boy was in nice condition and he stood on good legs and feet. He set up and handled well and moved steadily.
2nd King’s Ch Elnside The Grandmaster ShCM.
Ultra smart, clean looking male of 4 years with typical head showing strong straight muzzle and good mouth with correct dentition and bite. Almond shaped dark eyes with lots of expression, dry skull, slight furrow and well placed ears. He had pleasing front and rear quarters, firm topline, good bone and excellent ribcage. He stood on good legs and feet and was in good coat and condition, he set up and showed to advantage and moved well.
3rd Green’s Matthias Vom Durrbachler Wald At Waldershelf JW (Imp Nld).

Special Beginners Dog  (3, 1)
1st Norris’ Elenius Life Genri (Imp Rus)
2nd Copeland’s Szarhegyaljai Fifty Fifty (Imp Hun).
Young male of 15 months with very bushy coat. I liked his shapely well covered body and decent head with nice muzzle, dark eyes and well placed ears. He came together well with pleasing angulation front and back and he showed and moved steadily.

Puppy Bitch  (2, 1)
1st Copeland’s Materas Summerlin South.
Nice bitch of 7 months with typical head showing beautiful dark eyes, nice flat skull, strong muzzle and good mouth correct bite and dentition. She had straight front legs and correct rear quarters with wide thighs and well bent stifles, nice shapely well covered body of the correct length with good bone and substance, wide chest, deep brisket, firm level topline and correct tail set and carriage. She was in good coat and condition and she moved well, and I was pleased to award her Best Puppy.

Junior Bitch  (2)
1st Jeffries’ Esslinbern Gadaboot Grace.
Beautiful clean looking bitch of 15 months with sparkling white markings. She was put down in excellent coat and condition but could benefit with better handling. Nevertheless, she showed enough for me to see her beautiful well balanced head piece with expressive dark eyes, flat skull, straight muzzle and good mouth correct bite and dentition. She had a pleasing front assembly with nicely boned straight front legs down to slightly sloping pasterns and round compact feet. I liked her shapely well covered body with firm level topline, smoothly rounded croup, deep brisket and well sprung ribs. This bitch had correct rear quarters with wide thighs and well bent stifles. She stood on good legs and feet and moved with a purposefully slow trot showing a good reach in front and definite drive from the rear that was both economical and pleasing to see and I was pleased to award her the Bitch CC.
2nd Davidson’s Elnside A Game Of Shadows.
Nice bitch of 16 months although not as ostentatious as winner. She had a typical head with good eyes, ears, muzzle and mouth, pleasing forehand assembly with clean relatively laid back shoulders, shapely well covered body was just a tad long cast and she had good rear quarters. She was in good coat and condition and she showed and moved steadily.

1st Corrigan’s Szarhegyaljai Elekktra (Imp Hun).
Nice bitch of 2 years with a lot to like. She had a good typical headpiece showing dark eyes, neat well placed ears, nice muzzle and good mouth with correct bite and dentition, flat skull and strong muzzle. She had straight front legs and correct rear quarters with wide thighs and well bent stifles. Her body was shapely and the correct length with a firm level topline and she set up nicely and moved well after her initial quick gallop.

1st Marsden & Robertson’s Trudaleaze Majik Potion.
5 year old bitch with beautiful well balanced head piece showing a clean, dry, flat skull and high set ears, eyes were dark and almond shaped, and she had a beautiful muzzle and mouth with strong jaws and correct bite. This bitch had a good front assembly with nice neck and shoulders and a super shapely well covered body. Her topline was firm and straight and front and rear angulation was correct. She set up and showed to advantage and moved beautifully around the ring. I was pleased to award her the Reserve Bitch CC.
