30th October 2006 ~ 10th September 2015
Owned by Sherry and Reg Round

It is with great sadness I have to announce the passing of "Scrumpy". His owners Sherry and
Reg are heartbroken at the loss of their boy. He was a wonderful friend to Sherry and gave her
much fun and many moments to remember. He was always an independent boy from the start
and Ron and myself kept him here with us a little longer as a pup while Sherry and Reg were
away on holiday. I very nearly kept him but knew Sherry would love him and show him, so off
he went. Never the easiest of dogs he was blessed with a very quick mind and a huge sense
of fun (not the best combination !) He was stubborn and at times a real devil... but Sherry loved
him to bits and the hole he has left in her heart will never quite be filled the same way again.
"He gained 4 CC's and 2 Reserve CC's
CC LKA judge Sue Flanagan Dec 2010 with BOB
CC W&PBA of Wales judge Andrew Brace April 2011
CC Windsor judge June MIles June 2013
CC Richmond judge Irene Malpass Sept 2013
Reserve CC Paignton Aug 2010 (June Miles)
Reserve CC NW&PBS July 2013 (Trish Goodyear)
"Scrumpy also gained his Bronze and Silver Good Citizen awards but his real love was agility
where he did very well.
"He will be sadly missed by all who took the time to get to know him.
"The best memories I have of him are when he saw me he always threw himself at me for
cuddles, he never forgot me but should Sherry offer me the end of his lead to take him home
he would rush back to her side and could not be persuaded to move an inch. Never the easiest
dog to show Sherry was often told to get someone else to handle him!! The did not know him
like we did!!
"My thanks must go to Sherry and Reg for giving him a wonderful home and loving him like I
would myself. RIP Big boy, re-united with your Mum Merlot xxx "

"Carting & Chill Out Weekend 2015 - Bernese Working Cart Group of GB
"After the disappointment of cancelling our training weekend in May we certainly pulled out
all the stops to make sure that what was our chillout weekend would now become our main
event in 2015.
"We camped from the Thursday till Tuesday over the bank holiday period and although the
weather forecast for the duration wasn't looking too promising it actually turned out better than
expected on the days that it mattered.
"Saturday started off as just a training day for anyone who wanted to come and give carting a go
under the guidance of very experienced trainers. Miranda with Oscar (below) had already done
their First Draft last year but wanted to go back to basics with training wheels just to enforce
Oscar's training from last year. As you can see he not only had remembered what he had learnt
but wanted to have a go on the carting course.
"Saturday evening we had our get together and included a very large buffet, drinks and
entertainment by Julie and Lee Palmer. What a giggle we all had with party games and charades.
"Sunday was our main day for fun competitions and we had trophies and rosettes for all class
winners on the fun carting course competition and also all the decorated cart classes.
"A big thank you to Gill Instone who kindly judged all the decorated cart classes for us. I think
she appreciated how difficult this can be and after a lot of deliberation she came up with her winners.
Class 1 Decorated Cart Swiss Theme
1st Linda Smith with Dyce. I liked this team for their simplicity with traditional Swiss cart decorated
with churns and flowers and well turned out dog.
2nd Lynne Boyd with Madison. Once again very simplistic but effective, and well groomed dog.
3rd Wendy with Wallace. An old cart with simple display, Swiss flags and cuddly berns, very
Class 2 Decorated Cart and theme.
1st Julie & Dave with Redford - Down on the farm. Very original - Dave dressed as a scarecrow
(would frighten anyone) and Julie as the farmer. Redford was dressed as a sheep and was so
convincing. He did have trouble keeping his tights up, but don't we all!
2nd Diane with Murdoch - The Italian Job. Another well thought out idea with the cart transformed
into a mini with blocks of gold and Di holding the dynamite.
Class 3 Best Carting Turnout
1st Julie with Redford - Lovely turned out dog and cart
2nd Bruce with Dixie - Dixie and 11 yr old Australian Shepherd, lovely turnout
3rd Lynn with Murdoch - Very nice clean cart and polished brasses.
"Afterwards we presented Gill with a small gift for her hard work.
"The fun carting course was also well attended and main winners were
1st Dave and Redford in beginners
1st Tom with Ramsay in Intermediate
1st Bruce with Bear in Advanced.
"Well done everyone.!
"Thank you to everyone who supported the event, special thanks to Julie and Lee for
entertaining us, Julie also for helping with the scoring on the Sunday and Di who supplied the
two golden goody boxes which helped raised funds for the carting group. The first box was
won by Julie Wright and the second one Jim Webster. Thanks Di for all your hard work, much
"So another season closes and we have had another great year. We hope to see you all very
soon and don’t forget to look on the website for all updated information.
