Bernese News 2nd September 2015
Heather Head emailed;
"I am delighted to announce that Betsy (Ch.& Ir.Ch. Bernsteph Betty Barclay To Millerlead
Sh.CM) was 12 years old on 30th August 2015!
"Betsy is still quite active, although not making it to the top of the mountain any more each
morning. She is looking good, eating well and enjoying life as always. Just back from a week
in Ireland, she enjoyed all the well wishes from the Irish Berners and their dogs.
"Bless you Betsy, I am sure I will be writing about you at the same time next year!
"May I offer my thanks to everyone who sent messages, cards and goodies to Betsy, especially
from Jo and Trevor Sutton – her breeders and her very best friend Karen, whose car she just
loves! Leaps in at every opportunity (yes, she can still make it!) but less eager to get out.
"Lets hope I will be writing about her again next year – I think this lovely girl will live forever!"
Pete and Wendy Garrard emailed;
"40 people (plus dogs) came along to help us celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, many
of them staying over in caravans, motorhomes and tents.
"The dogs enjoyed some long walks in Whistley Wood, which adjoins the paddock - a lovely cool
break from the heat of the day.
"Although our actual anniversary was on Sunday, the main celebrations were on Saturday (to
give those who had to go back to work on Monday, time to recover...!)
"After some very mixed weather during the week before, Saturday was amazing - 28 degrees,
a slight warm breeze and a nearly cloudless blue sky. Speeches (!), cake and photos took place
at 4.30 with the barbeque being fired up afterwards.
"Tim & Maggie's gazebos had been erected in case of inclement weather and to protect the
musical gear - Malcolm Dewick with his keyboard entertained us all singing, accompanied by
Martyn Bullock and his guitar. At 10.30pm we were still sitting around in polo shirts, it was so
"Sunday was cooler but after a brief spell of rain the rest of the day was dry and concluded
with another barbeque outside Brian & Lynne Boyd's caravan, after which, as it was getting a
bit cool, we all adjourned into their awning.
"The rain from Monday onward only served to confirm how lucky we'd been with Saturday's
"We owe a great debt of thanks to Tim & Maggie and to everyone who helped to organise the
weekend, as well as all those who turned up to help us celebrate.
The fact that Bernese Welfare also benefitted by £400 from our pleasure was a happy bonus."
May I offer my most sincere gratitude to you all on behalf of Bernese Welfare UK. Jude
