Bernese News 30th September 2015

Marian Scott emailed;

"Invitations to the Northern BMD Club Superleague finals are in the process of being sent out
either by email or letter in the next few weeks and we'd appreciate it if people could reply as soon
as possible as we are limited to 64 Bernese on the day.  It will also be the 15th anniversary for the
event which is to be held at the Bridge Hotel Wetherby, on 14th November 2015."

Belfast Championship Show and was met with an entry of 26 with 5 absentees across 10 classes.

In Dogs Shirley King & Julie Bramble's homebred Shirdees Continental picked up his 2nd CC with
the Reserve going to Alison Erskine's Spanish import Devael Blurred Vision.

Leena Pawlyszyn's Ch Materabern Disco Diva gained her 9th CC and also took Best of Breed with
David & Jackie Benson's Belgian import Miss Sunshine De Zandvijver At Bernervalley winning the
Reserve ticket.  Best Puppy was Eamonn & Winnie Giffney's Rockybear Count On Me.

The judge's critique for this show is published below.

Puppy Dog  (1 entry)
1st Giffney’s Rockybear Count On Me.
Just 6 months baby enjoying his day out.  Very raw all
through but the basics are there. Head shape good, lovely dark eyes. Moved out freely, just a
touch more balanced than his litter sister which won him Best Puppy.

Post Graduate Dog  (2)
1st Hughes’ Give Me Five Of Christofland.
23 month old male who has the most gorgeous head
with a wide, flat skull. Short muzzle. Very dark eyes and gorgeous expression.  Good reach of neck,
level topline. Excellent angulation both front and rear which enabled him to move with balance and
style. He only needs to mature in body and then he should be a serious contender for top awards.
2nd Hasting’s Bernemcourt Liv'n On A Prayer. A lot of the above comments apply to this dog.
Another lovely head with a good expression. Very well made, slightly more mature in body than 1st.
Excellent presentation and handling, just beaten on profile movement.

Limit Dog  (3)
A very difficult class to judge as all three were of quite different types.
1st Galen-Bisping’s Holzern That's Amore At Celticberns. This dog has a lovely body shape
with correct front and rear angulations. Excellent bone. He has an excellent, strong head with kind
expression. Excels in profile movement, just wish he was longer on the leg for better balance.
Profuse, stand off coat. Lovely temperament.
2nd Murphy’s Kinelarty Benvenuto Bjorn. This dog had better height to length ratio but was
lacking in bone for his size. Good, masculine head and correct neck length.  Balanced angulation
leading to good profile movement.
3rd Giffney’s Doremis Lolvo Kid (Imp Swe).

Open Dog  (4)
1st King and Bramble’s Shirdees Continental JW ShCM.
I loved this male last time I judged
and he is even better a year on. Upper medium sized with a balanced outline.  Strong head with a
flat skull and short muzzle, darkly marked with dark eyes of the correct almond shape.  Medium
length, strong neck which leads to dead level topline. Excellent front and rear angulations, strong
through the loin area and correct tail length. Excellent bone. He can be quite stubborn and tends to
lean back slightly spoiling his shape but really comes into his own on the move.  Strong powerful
strides take him effortlessly around the ring, looks like he could go all day.  Moves a touch close
behind but could not be denied the CC, his second.
2nd Erskine’s Devael Blurred Vision Jun Ch (Imp Esp).  Very impressed with this lovely young
male, 2 years old. Medium sized with bone to match. Excellent head shape, dark eyes showing calm
expression. Excellent angulations front and rear but a touch long in the loin so occasionally lost his
topline. Excellent movement profile and coming towards but a touch close behind. Handled and
presented well. Reserve CC.
3rd Galen-Bisping’s Jaybien Twme Toyou At Celticberns.

Puppy Bitch  (1)
1st Roche’s Rockybear Follow Your Heart.
Litter sister to puppy dog, again very raw baby.
Lovely rich dark tan. Good head shape, correct dentition.  Level topline and correct angulations
both front and rear. A touch too long on the leg at the moment but nice flowing movement.
Lovely temperament.

Junior Bitch  (3)
1st Butler’s Siansela Louisa's Alpine Sky Jun Ch.
First two very similar, turned out to be litter
sisters. 15 months old, this bitch was more mature in body and head.  Good head shape with
feminine expression. Balanced outline with level topline.  Very nice profile movement but a touch
close at the back.
2nd Reilly’s Siansela Yodelling Liesl. Believe this bitch was not with her normal handler so she
was a bit distracted, looking for someone outside of the ring.  Concentrated a bit more when moving
and showed what she could do. Two very nice bitches, the breeder should be proud.
3rd O’Callaghan’s Jo-Jo Pride Of Justin.

Post Graduate Bitch  (3 entries, 2 absentees)
1st O’Callaghan’s Mapleridge Absolutely Fabulous.
Stood alone but very nice bitch.  Shapely
body with adequate bone. Feminine head with good width of skull.  Only 15 months so still needs
to mature. Handled well to show excellent profile movement.

Limit Bitch (4, 2)
1st Benson’s Miss Sunshine De Zandvijver At Bernervalley.
2 year old shapely bitch with
strong bone. Feminine head with width of skull, correct dark eyes giving kind expression.  Good
reach of neck leading into level topline, strong loin and correct hindquarters.  Presentation excellent
and handled well to show her balanced gait in all directions.  Pushed hard for CC but had to give
way to a fully mature bitch. Reserve CC.
2nd McMahon’s Mullinacross Jamaica Plain. Another quality bitch but head is lacking a bit in
stop. Good eyes and expression. Shapely body with good bone. Moved close when viewed from
behind but very good in profile movement.

Open Bitch  (6, 1)
1st Pawlyszyn’s Ch Materabern Disco Diva.
Gorgeous mature bitch of upper medium size who
is so attentive to her handler.  Very feminine head with a good width of skull and short muzzle.
Lovely dark eyes give a soft, calm expression. She has a good reach of neck leading into a level
topline. Correct angles both front and rear. Strong through the loin to shapely hindquarters ending
with a constantly wagging tail. She is balanced all through and this coupled with her excellent
condition allows her to power around the ring. Excellent presentation and handling completed the
picture, I loved her. CC and Best of Breed.
2nd Murphy’s Ch Kinelarty Norsk Star Struck Jnr Ch.  5 year old bitch handled to advantage.
Medium size with bone to match. Feminine head but her eyes could be darker.  Good neck and
shoulders. Good rear angulation and she does have a level topline but the curly coat over her rump
does disguise this. Moves very well in profile but a touch close going away.
3rd Murphy’s Kinelarty Amo Tiziana.
